Hello, and welcome to our site! Spectrum is an all-level, entirely freestyle wolf rpg where members are encouraged to stretch their minds and exercise as much creativity as possible when it comes to characters and plots. Our community is very friendly, active, and helpful.
If you are considering joining, please read The Rules before doing so.
5/1 - forte - Here is an update on the conversion of Spectrum. Hopefully the whole process will be done with in a couple of days.
5/1 - forte - This post is required reading for everyone on the site. It is the new setting of Spectrum, and will go into effect soon, once I get the IC boards moved around and everything is consistent with what's described in this post.
4/30 - forte - An update of the rules: "companions" are no longer allowed unless bought from the store as non-wolf characters.
4/29 - forte - I will be archiving all the IC threads of all members who have not logged in since the beginning of March. They will be saved for anyone who becomes more active this summer. By that time, anyone who has not logged in by the end of June will have their account deleted.
4/29 - forte - Here is a really important thread that I'd like everyone to read, and give input on, if you have any opinion on the subject therein.
Create your new character here. Be sure to include all the fields provided in the optional form. Once your character is accepted it will be moved into the "Approved Characters" board and added to the list of characters.
If you would like to delete any characters, please don't do it yourself. Post links to their profiles here and a staff member will delete them. This way the character list remains accurate.
The Gateway The Valley has very few entrances, and all of them are hard to traverse, and while the Gateway is no exception, it is certainly easier to make it through this mountain pass than enter from any other spot. As a wolf rounds the last bend coming into the magical world, its eyes are caught by a huge stone arch growing out of the mountain slopes that frames the view of the Valley beautifully. The Whispering Forest This peaceful forest is home to every known, and some unknown species of tree on the continent. Many of the trees flower and all do so at different times, so there are always flowers to be found here. When the wind blows through the branches, one can almost hear the trees speaking.... Phoenix Springs While a warm dip is always pleasant on a cold day in this northerly, gusty badland, this certain spring is peculiar for its healing properties. Perhaps it is magic or minerals or beneficial bacteria in the water, but anyone who takes a good long soak in the pool will find their wounds and diseases cured. The Dragon's Back Only the bravest dare to wander up the steep hillside to these jagged, gray peaks that pierce the sky. The ridge was named for its likeness to the spikes on a dragon's back, and yet those who brave the dizzying heights often find stange, smooth, flat, colorful stones, almost like scales....
The Black Meadow Named for the color of the clouds that so frequently shroud it, some freak circumstances cause severe and varied weather, such as pelting rain, hail, tornadoes, electrical storms, and freak blizzards, to develop around this meadow at least every few days. Stone Ruins Who could have built these mysterious, ancient ruins? Perhaps an extinct race of inhabitants of the valley? The rocks that were used to build them are now covered in moss, and trees actually grow from the walls here and there. The tunnels are labyrinthian dangerous to explore, but you might be rewarded with an amazing discovery. Carnivorous Jungle Possibly the most dangerous and sinister place in the whole valley, the Carnivorous Jungle is just what it sounds: a dark, steamy jungle littered with carnivorous plants. Near the edge the plants are smaller, but as one ventures deeper, they grow until they tower above your head. One touch, and you could be dead. Rainbow River While the Rainbow River winds its way all throughout the Valley, a certain half-mile-long section in the south is known for being very colorful. Depending on the light, it can appear any color of the rainbow. The river is teeming with fish and crustaceans.
Shrouded Beach This perpetually-foggy beach is not really a beach at all. It is a very long, narrow lake with a secret. Every night from dusk until dawn, the ghostly spirits of all types of animals emerge from the lake and glide around on the glassy surface, silently conversing with each other. Rainbow Forest This forest primarily consists of broadleaf trees with normal green, red, orange and yellow leaves, but scattered here and there are groves of trees with blue and purple leaves. Near the center of the forest all the different colors of trees can be found intermixed in one huge grove. Saguaro Forest This desert-like area is dotted with huge saguaro cacti. Be careful not to get too close, or you could be skewered! Water is scarce here, but when it rains, it pours, and after a rain the plants come to life and put out flowers of all colors. The Battleground High up on the slopes of the mountains that surround the Valley lies this spreading alpine tundra. Few trees grow up here, and those that do are stunted. The ground is covered in a reddish lichen that makes the meadow look blood-stained.
The Octopus In reality, this forest bears little resemblance to an octopus. It is a small grove of very old, twisted and thick trees, many of whose roots form huge arches overhead. It would make a wonderful playground and densite. Ancient Canyon This river-carved canyon is a natural wonder. Aside from being remarkably deep, intricate, colorful and beautiful, it is also old enough that the bones and fossils of ancient creatures can be seen everywhere embedded in the rock. White Lake This lake, which is frozen over for much of the year, is attractive for two reasons: it is a great swimming hole with a tall cliff to dive from, and it houses the only entrance to a marble cave full of beautiful formations and bioluminescent bacteria and organisms. Forest of Giants The trees of this forest tower above all others in the valley. Some scrape the sky at upwards of 400 feet and have diameters of 30 of more. This forest is beautiful and amazing, but also dangerous. Objects, such as branches and pinecones, that fall from high up can have devastating effects on creature on the forest floor.
Miracle Beach The last thing one would expect to find inland is a beach, complete with smell of sea salt, but here it is. A cliff forms one edge of this crystal-clear pool, while a white, sandy beach, upon which gentle waves roll day and night, makes the other. Bizzare, colorful fish are even present in the water. Cave of Voices This long, wide, cylindrical tunnel allows for crystal-clear echoes. But if one ventures far enough into the cave, the echoes start to come back in unfamiliar voices saying unfamiliar words.... The Epicenter At the very center of the valley lies a small, shallow, perfectly circular pool, in which a large metal meteorite has rested for as long as any wolf can remember. Unassuming at first, the pool is actually very dangerous, for it is the most potent source of magic known in the Valley. Those who drink from it put themselves at great risk. Swamp of Visions Beware this swamp: Inhaling the noxious gasses that bubble up from beneath the surface of the grimy water can result in light-headedness and confusion. Prolonged exposure can lead to paranoia and vivid hallucinations. It would be easy to get lost in this wasteland and perish without even realizing it.
Every forum has one. This is the general board for games, off topic conversations, pictures, and pretty much anything else that doesn't fit in another board.
Here you can buy things with the rainbows for each post you make. There is a character item shop, which is run by Forte, and there are also member shops. Any member who wants one can request a sub-board where they can fill orders.
