Maji was walking through the tundra, just wandering the vast lands of this world. It was cold here, even in the summer, but Maji could handle it. His coat wasn't very thick, or very long, but it would suffice as it was the warm season here.
"Tell me again, why you decided to come to this very cold place. Neither of us are cut out for this type of weather," Marako said to Maji, his voice dry. He really did not like it here, and wasn't happy being here.
"I'm just wandering. The same thing I've been doing since before I met you," Maji replied, his voice full of understanding. It was true. They weren't cut out for this place, and even with the warmer temperatures, Maji could feel his paws becoming slightly numb, the further north they went. They were still in the northern part of this land, so the temperature was slightly warmer here. It was a scorching 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and only getting worse.
An ear twitching, Maji stopped and looked ahead, his nose to the wind. He could have sworn he had caught the scent of another wolf, female and not too far off. He had lost the scent though, and he shrugged it off, continuing on his way.
A few moments later, however, he caught the scent again. This time, holding it a little longer before the ever changing wind shifted and took the scent away. Where is that scent coming from? Maji thought to himself, putting his nose to the ground and looking for some kind of scent trail that way.

It was like a vast sea of white, and the bitter cold was stinging her through her short, blue gray fur. This wolf wandered in forests, swamps, and could take the heat like a champ; however, the cold seemed to be her weak point. And she was alone, which was never a good thing at all for a female wolf. One did not know who could come around.
"I cannot believe I came here. This place came out of nowhere from the forest." The fae growled loudly; the presence of it rumbling deep in her throat. Those piercing emerald eyes scanned the area, but she saw nothing but an icy hell. Well, it was not as bad as she thought, and was not as icy; she stayed in the Northern area, where the temperature was not as bad as farther south. The fae withdrew her claws and slashed out the ground in frustration, then sighed and calmed herself down. Something alien wafted into her nostrils, and she lifted her head to sniff the air for a moment. The smell was musky; something male was around here, and she instantly grew slightly protective over herself. The fae, being an extremely lean build, swiftly dashed a hundred yards, before abruptly stopping to sniff the air again. It seemed as if she had some company, but she could not depict the exact area of where. The wolf decided to slyly pace herself across the area, keeping her eyes keen on her surroundings and ears perked for any unfamiliar, out-of-place sounds that she might hear. But, all the precaution was cut short when she, a mere few hundred yards away, saw the shape of another wolf. She kept her steps quiet, and her head down low, watching the stranger before her. Did he sniff her scent too? Maji was finally able to pick out the fae, off in the distance. She was hunched down, seemingly afraid, or at least very cautious about coming near him. He could kind of understand why. Jackals were notorious for being overly aggressive, and he had horns, so he slowly made his way over there, trying his best to seem non threatening.
Getting to the wolf, Maji bowed his head.
"Hello. Are you exploring like I am?" he asked outright. He didn't mean to sound rude, but he liked to be straight forward with everyone that he came into contact with. It sometimes got him into trouble, especially when a lie would be favorable.
"My name is Maji, and the deer you see behind you is Marako. Please don't look at him hungrily. He doesn't appreciate it," Maji said in a way of introduction, Marako coming up to stand beside Maji.
"Hello," Marako said, dipping his head in acknowledgement of the she-wolf.

Those emerald hues latched onto him, and studied him a bit while he was pacing himself over. He seemed alright; no threats radiated off of him and it calmed the fae's nerves. In return to his bow of the head, she nodded once, accepting his respect with grace.
"Hello. Are you exploring like I am?" The fae nodded, and her tail swished itself side to side slightly. "Yes. Unfortunately, this is not the place to explore." Her tone of voice was light, filled with a feather-like emotion. It seemed as if her tone could cast grace upon any creature. "My name is Maji, and the deer you see behind you is Marako. Please don't look at him hungrily. He doesn't appreciate it." The fae couldn't help but chuckle; the wolf's abruptness didn't stun her, but amused her greatly. It showed personality in a wolf, being completely honest, and she enjoyed that immensely. "I'm not exactly hungry, at least, not in this cold anyway. I knew by the way he looks at you, he is... not a meal." The fae shrugged a bit, and turned to the deer, accepting his dip with a nod and a small smile that spread itself on her muzzle. "I'm Aaliyah." Short and simple, and in the midst of saying it, she shook out her blue-gray fur. Maji was surprised that this fae was here, especially when she said that she didn't want to be here. It kind of confused him, and it made him squint his eyes and tilt his head at her in a questioning manner.
"If you don't mind my asking, why are you here, if you do not want to be? It seems kind of contradictory to one's happiness," Maji said, sitting down on the soft lichen that was growing all around them. Marako was busy off on his own, munching at the green and red stuff.
"Aaliyah. What a pretty name," Maji commented when she introduced herself. She shook out her fur, throwing little drops of melted snow everywhere, but Maji managed to avoid the worst of it by ducking his head.
"Hey, be nice," he said in a playful manner. He knew that she didn't mean to splatter him with water, but it was kind of fun to play with someone. She was the first wolf he had seen in a while, since the broad-leaf forest, in fact. It was nice to finally have someone to talk to.

Did she say something wrong? What was it with males, anyway? They try so hard to put on something so complex, but they were simple.
"If you don't mind my asking, why are you here, if you do not want to be? It seems kind of contradictory to one's happiness." The fae chuckled, her soft tone bringing the chuckle into a new light; something new, bright. "I was... travelling, and I did not expect myself to end up here." Her emerald hues gazed around her surroundings, before returning their place to the brute before her. "Silly me," she whispered, before giving out an exasperated sigh. "Aaliyah. What a pretty name." Aaliyah smiled at him, only just a bit, and rubbed her paw on the ground insecurely. "Why, thank you." All her words were simple, yet she put her emotion into them. She saw him duck his head, and she bursted out laughing with her heart put into it. "Hey, be nice." The fae laughed again, and shook out her fur once more on purpose, only to tease. "Take that!" She couldn't help but laugh again. Maji laughed and shook his fur back at her. It was nice to just relax a little and have some fun, even if it was with a complete stranger.
"Well, I'm just out adventuring, wandering from place to place, not really doing anything in particular," he said in a bored tone. All he was doing really was trying to put his family behind him, but that was always a lot harder said than done.
Sitting down in the cold, but not quite frozen moss, Maji allowed a small smile to grace his maw which Marako saw and silently drifted off in search of something better to do than watch his companion make lover eyes at the fae. He knew that Maji could take care of himself, so he didn't really say anything as he left on almost silent hooves.
Maji couldn't take his eyes off of her. She was one of the first she-wolves he had met since leaving his pack that didn't try and attack him if he looked at her wrong. It was refreshing. Maybe he was just deprived, but he thought that this fae in particular was very stunning.
