The desert seemed to be the failure of Mother Nature's abilities. The sun, the golden sun, was devastating during the day. At night, it was like winter blasted through, devouring all in its icy grasp. Ah, it would be like the desert was PMSing like a human woman; bitchy when it's hot, and snuggly by the night. There was dry grass on the ground; plants didn't make it during this particular area, except cactuses. Water was very little. Endurance was needed in all the living beings that inhabitated this system. Life was little, but there still was game. Enough game to eat, and to hunt for the next day.
Mountains of rock aligned themselves like a border for the rising sun. Shadows stretched far and wide until the golden sphere hit the very top of the (pratically) always clear sky. Clouds only rolled by when Mother Nature commanded it to, but once it did, the promise of rain was evident. Through this dreadful place paced a brute, a wolf, who stood out of this area during the day, but was protected at night. A midnight fur coated his rippling muscles; a lean touch made him look slick, almost elegant, if he started to sprint. A blue thick mane spread itself on his head and chest, and tuffs of blue fur stuck out on top of both ears. Markings were zig-zagged on his ears and front legs, and only had a straight line across the back. The wolf was rather... odd looking, but the glistening of his fur under the blazing sun made it apparent that he did, indeed, take care of his appearance. Being presentable was, well, rather of importance; he never knew when he would run into another creature to intimidate or kindly talk to.
"This place... It's a place for the strong," he mumbled to himself, his golden hues catching small creatures like mice hopping away from his steps. Each step he took left a small imprint upon the Earth's soil, but the care that went through him was nonexistant. Abruptly, he halted, and his vision gazed upon all the land before him. The brute did, however, smell a scent; a scent that claimed its rightful place on this area.
A huff escaped his muzzle. He sat down, his golden hues silently waiting for the rightful owner to come running. A scent could travel far, and this area was barren; his would go rather quickly, or as he hoped it would, to the leader of this territory. The monster awaited, and would continue to wait, no matter the time that passed by. He was interested in this land.
The wolf wanted to become... elite.

Alerei was bored out of her mind. She lay on a flat rock gnawing on the legbone of a scrawny deer she'd found on the edge of her territory. The beast had clearly gotten lost, it did not belong in the desert, and it was dying of thirst when she'd found it. It had little meat on it, but it was young, so the meat it did have was tender, and more than enough for a single wolf. A nice break from hare. Her teeth ground into the bone and finally she heard it crack, and proceeded to lick out the marrow. Killing the deer had taken little effort, nor had dragging its emaciated corpse deeper into her lands. She had devoured it swiftly, and now lay chewing on bones and licking marrow. She liked marrow, any normal wolf did, but she was getting tired of life in the desert.
She had claimed this scorching land to start a pack, and as yet she had not had one wolf join her. She supposed it was rather past time she left her territory to seek out loners, rather than sit and wait for wolves to come to her, but the idea made her nervous. What if another wolf invaded her territory while she was gone? She could defend what was hers only as long as she was present. Plus, she was not exactly fond of other wolves; if she had to deal with them, she would much rather deal with them on her own terms. Even so, she was never going to grow her pack by sitting around her territory doing nothing. She finished with the bone between her forelegs and rose to her feet. The rock she was on a thick, flat disk of irregular shape, sitting very firmly on a tall pillar that rose up from the ground.
Around it were similar rocks, some as sturdy as hers and others more precarious. She leapt down to the ground, her nails clicking and scratching on the stony surface. She fell into a steady, ground-eating lope that didn't expend much energy, and made her way towards the outer edges of her home. She was halfway there when the hot wind blew an alien scent into her nostrils. She stopped dead and lifted her head to the sky, inhaling deeply. Yes, there it was; an unfamiliar wolf, nearby. A mixture of curiosity, excitement, and plain old territorial aggression warred for dominance; she eventually settled on curiosity tinged with hostility, and changed her course. Within a short distance the scent was strong enough for her to recognize the slight "scent code" that marked the wolf's gender.
She relaxed slightly, feeling less threatened by a male than a female. True, males were generally larger than females, but Alerei was not a small wolf, despite her age; her father had been a siberian wolf, and they were rather large beasts. But females; she quite hated females. Adopting a stealthy gait, she eeled her way through rock formations until she found a place to examine the wolf without being seen. He may well have been able to smell her, but she didn't care if he could; as long as she had enough time to assess him before showing herself. She was rather impressed with what she saw, too. His fur was black and blue, covered in the most remarkable markings; his eyes were bright and his paws were tipped with white claws. He looked fierce and dangerous, and Alerei decided to tread carefully with him; he could prove very useful to her. Satisfied, she slid out of her hiding place and walked towards him, her own sandy fur blending with her surroundings. Her eyes were their regular ice blue, but the edges had a distinct orange tinge. "Greetings, wolf. I am Alerei, alpha of the Solis Brotherhood."

An alien scent waved through his nostrils, but he did not flinch. Actually, he didn't even move a muscle. His orbs peered about lazily, trying to dictate where the smell was coming from. It was a fae scent, and he was not threatened at all. Females usually come around him anyway, in any case, and he was used to their presence a hell of a lot more than actual females.
That's when she came out of hiding.
The she wolf seemed normal; her coat blended in with the surroundings rather nicely. It was a beautiful mix of browns, and his ears twitched in approval of what was before him. She looked like she knew what she wanted, and would do nothing to stop until she gets it. Just like him; a monster, yet she looked slightly more tender.
"Greetings, wolf. I am Alerei, alpha of the Solis Brotherhood."
"So that's what you call this hell, hm? Solis Brotherhood... Very touching," he said in his usual icy tone. Winter would come about if his voice had the power to change seasons drastically. However, he could not do such a thing, as to his annoyance. It would help others figure out his mood easily, but alas, it was not meant to be. The brute stood on all fours before her, his white claws scratching against the desert floor. Pebbles bounced about below him a bit, before settling themselves far away from his paws, seeking safety. "Very nice to meet you, Alerei. I'm Alkadorio." His golden hues hinted a shine, and he bowed his head respectfully. The brute peered into her eyes, holding contact, simply because he wanted to read her body language. All was well, he predicted. "If you don't mind me asking...," he mumbled, his tone sending out nonchalant vibes, "Are you alone here?" A simple question, but he did not want to pose disrespect.
