Surprises and disasters are events that happen in-character that are totally out of the ordinary, such as a natural disaster or the temporary appearance of a magical land. These events can effect one sub-board in a biome, multiple sub-boards, all of them, or even the entire biome. They do not affect the entire continent on which Spectrum is set.
How posting a surprise/disaster works, is this: All active threads that are in the board/s when the event starts can either disregard the event, or apply it to their thread; it's up to the posters. Threads started in the affected boards after the event starts MUST apply the event to their thread.
