Koa lifted his head a little when she rubbed her muzzle on his chin, his ears leaning back in comfort. For a moment, he wished he could get closer to Jynx and bask in their contact. After all, it had been quite a while since he had actually touched another wolf, or be touched, and it was true bliss to him. When she pulled away he let his face fall back to its normal relaxed state. He kept eye contact with her when she spoke and nodded in relief when she said she didn’t fear him. After looking into her eyes, it was then he noticed they were off white. Did that mean she was happy? It must have been because she was smiling at him, and she made herself more comfortable. The wolf smiled softly and leaned over until he was laying on his side. He inhaled deeply, and let out a hard sigh, closing his eyes and licking his nose. “I think I just want to lay here for a little while.” He said with a smile. For the first time in a while, he was truly enjoying the comfort of his own species.
While he laid there in ecstasy, thoughts ran through his mind. They weren’t appallingly gruesome, they were pleasant and heart filling. At first it was his mother that entered his mind. He truly loved her and wished he had been able to apologize and say goodbye. But she was long gone. He wasn’t even sure if she was alive, but he hoped she was. And he hoped that one day, he could tell her it was his fault her only daughter was dead. Maybe, if he could tell her that, he would finally live in peace. Maybe he wouldn’t be plagued with horrifying nightmares anymore. That would be spectacular. The next thing that danced through his mind was Lexi. His beautiful sister. She looked just like their mother, except, full of youth and vigor. She was smart, and always funny. No matter what she could always find a way to make him laugh. Oh how he wished he could bring her back. He would give his life up if he could have kept Lexi alive. Koa’s sister didn’t run through his thoughts for long, because Jynx’s tri colored figure appeared. Why was he thinking about her? Who knew. Who cared? It made him happy. The white wolf thought about who she was to him. A friend no doubt. Or at least, he really wanted her to be his friend. His companion maybe? Even though he had just met her, she made him feel at ease. Like he didn’t have to worry about being alone. What was he to her? Was he just another guy to her? Or was he more to her?
Koa had to pull his eyes open to avoid falling asleep. He was warm, and comfortable. He wanted to go to sleep, but he didn’t want to come across as rude or unappreciative. So, he tried to keep his eyes open, looking at the grass in front of him. The white wolf rubbed his cheek on the grass, enjoying the feel and smell before he brushed his shoulder against the ground to itch it. He looked at Jynx, not bothering to hold back the soft smile that sprung to his maw whenever he looked at her. Yes, he did want to be friends with her. “I fear I’m beginning to bore you,” He said with a yawn. “I apologize, but sleeps hold on me is just a little too tight,” He finished drowsily. “I’m willing to fight it if that is what you wish.”

``jynx;; A soft smile graced the fae's mouth as she watched him, happy to see his relief and happy that he had allowed her touch. It had been so long since she reached out to touch another where they had allowed it. Often times she was shrugged off or even chased off. She hadn't had any friendly contact from another wolf in months until now. She had been chased away for something that wasn't her fault, as was the case with all of her packs in the past. She tried to fight off those thoughts, she couldn't deal with it now. It angered her and made her feel like maybe there really was something wrong with her. Maybe there was, maybe she was cursed like everyone thought, even her own mother. Maybe that was the meaning behind her name. Jynx shrugged it off and just enjoyed being here. Koa rolled on his side and was sprawled out. The fae's smile widened and she nodded as he spoke. Jynx felt her eyelids grow heavy. She'd been up for a long time and even before she had risen for the day, her sleep was worthless. She found in hard to relax when she slept alone, she'd be such easy prey for a bear or even one of her own species. Cannibalism did not appeal to Jynx, but her mother had told her tales, possibly fake to keep her close, but Jynx had never been able to shake the fear of being eaten by one of her own. Not sleeping was catching up to her though and soon she would have no choice but to give into the sleep. She glanced up at Koa, he was lost in thought, but at least he looked at peace, not fitful and raging. She smirked, what a thoughtful wolf. Her own thoughts drifted to her mother, having thought about her stories. The thing about Jynx's mother, she was a bit crazy, and by a bit.... she was nuts. Jynx was lucky to get away from her, or who knows what might have happened. Jynx liked where she was at now, if she wasn't here she wouldn't have met Koa. Whoa, where did that come from? Jynx was a bit shocked by her own thoughts. Had she really grown so fond of someone she knew almost nothing about? She swallowed hard and smiled, unable to stop. She was happy, so why did it matter? Jynx shook her head clear of the thoughts and fought back a yawn, instead she inhaled deeply and sighed. She grinned at Koa, fighting back laughter as he tried to hold himself awake. She twitched her ears as he spoke and smiled. "You aren't boring me at all. If you wish to sleep, then sleep. I can leave while you sleep if you would prefer, or I can stay. The choice is yours."
She smiled nervously, hoping he wouldn't send her away, but if he did, she would go. Not sure where, but she'd find somewhere safe to rest, but then she worried more. If he did send her away, what if she never saw him? The thought made her sad, way more than she thought it should. She was not usually one to get attached, but she didn't want to leave him. She smiled at him, hoping he would allow her to stay. [/blockquote]

Almost immediately did Koa sit himself up at Jynx’s words. “I’d rather you not leave.” He blinked a few times to try and get the sleep ridden look off his face. “Abandonment is something I’d rather not get acquainted with. Besides, I’ve grown rather fond of the idea of staying with my own kind.” He smiled at her and flopped back onto his side, keeping the eye contact. For a few minutes, Koa just laid there and looked at her, a friendly smile painted on his maw. A gentle warm breeze washed over him, giving him a warm full feeling. The current shifted the trees above, giving off beams of light that heated his body to a comfortable level. Birds sang to each other, bees went hard to work pollenating, and the grasshoppers raced each other. From a distance, he could hear the ducks and geese splashing around, rejoicing that the wolves had left. Everything happening at once made Koa relax and it didn’t take long before he fell into a light sleep, just so he could hear nature at work.
The dream that played itself out in Koa’s mind was odd, but pleasant. He was lying in the sand, overlooking the ocean. The water was calm, stretching up the beach to just brush the tips of the wolf’s paws. It was warm, and the sky was painted purple, orange and pink. The clouds were lit up like fluffy bouts of smoke that stretched across the horizon. Koa’s deep brown eyes watched the dark orange sun as it moved slowly down over the water, creating a silky looking blanket of moving mixed colors. It was truly beautiful. As the wolf watched, something small tumbled through the sand from his left, and soon crashed into his side. For reasons Koa didn’t know, he didn’t attack or bother to look. Though it soon became clear that it was a wolf pup. The small thing rubbed against the brute’s side and crawled into his lap, cuddling against his chest. It was then he looked down and was shocked to see a white and red pup. She looked up at him with big brown eyes and smiled. She had red marks under her eyes, as well as stripes on her legs. Her ears, forehead, back, and tail were red as well, but the rest of her was white.
“What are you looking at, papa?”
Papa? Koa looked down at the pup, confused. He wasn’t a father, he hadn’t been in love with anyone either. But maybe the cub was confused. Maybe she thought he was her dad, but he really wasn’t. Koa smiled, not wanting to set the pup off in a frightened frenzy to find her true parents. “Look out there, young one. The sun is just about to be swallowed by the ocean.” His smile broadened when the pup looked alarmed, quickly looking out to the sea. She gave a squeal of excitement, her tail beating Koa’s shoulder.
“Is the sea hungry? Why does it have to eat— hi mama!” Koa turned his head, ears perked forward. Was the mother finally coming to take her daughter? The white wolf swallowed hard and his jaw dropped when he saw Jynx walking toward him, three pups in tow. “What the hell?” He muttered, shaking his head and sitting up. This movement caused the child in his lap to face plant into the sand. She sat up, coughed, and ran crying to Jynx who coddled her before smiling at Koa. The brute sat in shock, confused as to what was going on. The fae walked over and sat next to him, rubbing her head against his neck and face. “Jynx, what’s going on?” He asked, somewhat out of breath. She didn’t answer, but looked up at him, smiled, and then licked his muzzle gently.
“Let’s have eight more.”
At this, Koa jerked awake, sitting up quickly. He blinked hard and huffed hard, looking around. What the hell was wrong with him? He was dreaming about having children with Jynx? He just met her this morning! The while wolf shook his head hard and blinked again, assessing his surroundings. It was just starting to get dark out. What a shame, he slept longer then he wanted. He turned and looked at Jynx, wondering if she were still asleep. Occ;

``jynx;; At his words the femme's head tilted to the side, she watched him sit up and her brow furrowed. She smiled as he spoke, and her face relaxed, her head tilting back normal. She spoke softly, happily. "I'll gladly stay." She grinned more, relieved she could stay. The white orbs moved over him as he rolled over on his side and began to drift off into sleep. She sat up for a brief minute. Eyelids fluttered over her eyes, begging her to lay down and close her eyes. She yawned quietly as Koa slept near her. She felt a warm breeze roll through her fur and she smiled. She stood up and stretched herself out before looking around. Her ears moved around as she took in the sounds of the area around her, she shook her fur and sat back down, watching the soft rise and fall of the brute's sides as he slept. She yawned again and gave in. She rolled over onto her side, a bit closer to Koa and closed her eyes. She was almost instantly craddled by sleep and it was the good kind. It was deep, well as deep as she could get. Jynx was never a very deep sleeper.
Dreams rarely came to her in her sleep either, which is why if she were aware, she'd be shocked that one came to her now. It wasn't anything complex. Jynx was standing in a large field, dotted with trees. She was standing on a hill. A breeze blew the leaves around and ruffled her fur. It wasn't only Jynx in this clearing, there were a few other wolves. Some were young, and some were old, they were all mixed up in their own business. A ... pack? Jynx felt overjoyed, she'd finally been accepted somewhere? She was finally allowed to be somewhere with those of her own kind. The fae bounded down the hill and into the clearing with the others. She was welcomed, not ignored, and they acted like they wanted her around. The dream was almost too good to be true.... and then it happened. The yowling cry or a panther echoed across the field.
Her heart sank as the large creature came bounding down a tree trunk and stood before her. It growled and hissed and Jynx stood, trying no to shake. It yowled and flicked it's tail, looking past her. She glanced back to see the panther bounding toward a small wolf. Jynx snarled and chased it. She tried to stop it, to get it's attention, but she couldn't, she was frozen, locked in place as the panther did what it's instincts told it to do. When it finished it turned it's eyes to Jynx, the feline's piercing yellow eyes stared through her. It hissed out a warning, Jynx whimpered and collapsed as it spoke. "Cursed." One word from the large cat. One word, her label, her title. Jynx looked up at the panther as it licked the blood from it's lips and strutted away. She looked around, the pack once welcoming her had changed. They were closing in around her, hissing the same thing the panther had said.
Her eyes popped open, she lay still, her breath in a pant. She whimpered softly and closed her eyes. Everything always went wrong, what had she done to anger the spirits so? She sighed. Her eyes moved around and she saw Koa, fitfully sleeping. Would something bad happen to him too? Am I really cursed? Her ears drooped. She lay there in the setting sun, when he stirred and jolted awake. Jynx stayed still until he calmed down. She looked slowly up at him. "Are you okay? Her voice was a bit raspy, still drowsy. She rolled over onto her stomach and looked at him. Her tail had curled next to her hip and she shook the sleep from her head.

Koa looked down at Jynx, feeling suddenly awkward. He licked at the tip of his nose once to wet it. “I’m fine. You however, look stirred up. Bad dream?” He asked with a tilt of his head to show his curiosity. Maybe they both had a nightmare. Okay, wait that may have been harsh. The dream Koa had wasn’t exactly a nightmare, but he didn’t love Jynx and he sure as hell wasn’t ready to be a father. That was quite a ways away, and there was no rush. Putting the thought aside, the brute stood and gave a good stretch. He let his chest rest on the ground and let his rump stay in the air as he stretched his shoulders. A loud yawn escaped his mouth and he let it go gratefully. After working out the kinks, he stood and shook himself, looking around the area. The woodland was almost painted orange from the setting sun, and he knew that they couldn’t stay in the clearing. After all, they weren’t the only hunters out here.
He was thirsty. His throat was dry as well as his mouth. Blinking hard, he looked at Jynx again, giving a nod back toward the lake. The ducks and geese should be on the island now, protecting what chicks they have left. Which meant, he didn’t have to worry about being attacked again. Koa turned and started to walk the path that they had come from, keeping his head low. He was still tired, but after getting some cold water into his body, he should be fine. It didn’t take long before the shimmering lake came into view. It rippled with every fish that jumped and every chick that dared stray from their mother to try their hand at swimming. Koa stood with his front paws in the water, leaning down to drink. His pink tongue flicked from his maw as he lapped up the cool liquid, brown eyes scanning the area. All looked well, no threats were in sight. None that he could see.

``jynx;;. Her eyes looked over his face, he looked a tad uncomfortable, but she couldn't figure out why. She shook it off though, tilting her head as he spoke. A soft, nervous grin painted over her face. "It was a bad dream, but I'll be okay."
She sat herself up and yawned drowsily and blinked. The dream had been bad, and she was now reminded of her "curse". She was worried for Koa, if he stuck around her something bad was almost promised to happen to him. Her heart sank. It would be all her fault, too. Whatever happened to him, she would blame herself. Her eyes glanced around and then fell back to him. She watched his muscles stretch and followed his eyes as he glanced around. The orange tint cast on everything by the sun was beautiful and Jynx wanted nothing more than to stare at it all day. She knew they couldn't though. Something bigger would eventually figure out they were there, little did they know it all ready had. She glanced back at Koa in time to see him look at her and nod toward the lake. Her joints protested as she stood herself up, she stretched herself out and followed close behind him. The lake was nothing like it had been earlier. Everything was calm and quiet. All of the birds were nested on their island, safe from harm. Only a few brave chicks dared swim away. The water was very calm and still. Jynx followed Koa to the water's edge and waded out into the water. It crawled halfway up her legs before she stopped. Water was something Jynx had always loved. She lowered her head and pulled the frigid liquid into her mouth and swallowed it down her throat. It made her shiver slightly, but she loved it. She lapped up a little more. Her head lifted just in time to catch a glimpse of something huge. She stared at it hard, her fur bristled along her back as she turned her body. She licked her lips and moved back towards the shore, a very quiet growl rumbled from her chest as her eyes fixed on it. She nudged Koa gently with her shoulder. She swallowed hard. The creature came closer and Jynx's eyes widened. A very large black bear was making its way toward the wolves and it looked angry. It came before the two and stood on all fours. It growled and stood itself up, daring one of the two to move toward it. Its eyes glared down on them, and Jynx was frozen. Just like in her dream, she was stuck. A familiar heat came to her tail. Jynx begged for herself to calm down, for if she startled that bear it would kill them. She focused and looked over at Koa, the bear was getting annoyed that they hadn't made a move. It roared and looked at the two of them. Jynx swallowed hard, trying to stay calm. She licked her muzzle slowly and glanced back ahead, her eyes taking in the sight of this bear. It had its eyes locked on Koa, obviously since he was the larger threat. It pulled back its lips a revealed deadly teeth, a growling sound came from it. It had enough of our stalling and staring, it launched things into action. What had they done to provoke her? Jynx whimpered. The bear went straight for Koa, it swatted at him with about half it's strength, just trying to get something started. Its claws raked down his shoulder. Jynx growled and barked, trying to get its attention, but she felt like nothing was coming out. She did all she could to try and get it to look at her. She tried to move, but she couldn't. What was wrong with her? [/blockquote]

Koa was still drinking when Jynx spotted the threat. The growl is what caught his attention and the unexpected rub of her shoulder on him. The white wolf looked up quickly and turned his head, nearly choking on his breath. Of all the things he could have seen he had to see a bear? A surge of protectiveness shocked him and he instantly stepped in front of Jynx, letting his side touch her in reassurance. The black bear stared at him and he glared right back, the hackles on his back raising. The beast roared and the sound pulled back Koa's lips as he flashed his teeth, releasing a low pitched, fierce snarl. His ears flattened to his head and his tail raised, every hair on his back and tail standing on end. A normal reflex to show his mood and make him appear bigger then he was. This however, did not faze the bear as it came closer and swatted Koa on the shoulder. Though not all of the bears' strength was put into the blow, it tore through his skin like a hot knife would do to butter. The white wolf snarled louder and started to push Jynx away with his body, never losing eye contact with the bear. A small bit of movement behind her forced his eyes away, fearing it had backup. But no, two little cubs stood under a bush, looking innocently at him. A wall struck Koa at that moment. The bear was female, and those were her cubs. And if he knew anything about mother bears, is they would kill anything that posed a threat to their children. The bear stepped closer and Koa swung around to fight. "Jynx, run."
Those were the only words the brute could say before the sow charged. Barking and aggression and fear, the wolf had no choice but to fight. He had to keep her attention on him if he wanted Jynx to get away safely. As the bear swung a giant paw at him, Koa ducked under and latched his teeth onto its arm. He snarled as the mother swung her limb around, sending Koa through the air like a chew toy. By the time he hit the ground on his side -- knocking his breath from his lungs -- the sow was on top of him, ripping as his face and neck with her teeth and beating at him with her paws. The high pitched scream a canine makes when injured was the only sound Koa could muster and he tried to lunge and bite her face. He felt his skin being torn, muscles being ripped. A flailing ball of black and white tumbled around, ear piercing snarls and roars coming from both of them. Koa managed to escape her death grip and he tried to jump up but the mother reared up and slammed down on his ribcage with all the force she could get. There was a loud crack and the worst pain Koa had felt in his life flared through his body, jolting him with aching adrenaline. She bit into his shoulder and the brute lashed out with his paw, feeling his claw hook her eye.
The bear lurched back, scratching at her bleeding face. Koa took the opportunity to stand, his legs trembling from the amount of energy that surged though his body. For now the pain was blocked out, but it would come back with a vengeance later. With a deadly snarl, Koa lunched at the bear and sunk his teeth into her cheek, trying to find a place to attack where she couldn't bite back. With his teeth so close to her injured eye, the sow swung her head hard, leaving Koa flying helplessly through the air again. When he hit the ground, he jumped right back up to his feet, teeth bared, fur bristled. The two had a stare down for what seemed was hours. Before eventually, the bleeding mother limped over to her cubs, gathered them, and left. The second she was out of sight, Koa slowly sank to the ground, whimpering and whining as the pain started to seep into his body.
His wounds weren't as bad as he thought they'd be, but they were still serious and at risk of getting infected. He had two gashed on his shoulder from the sows' first blow, bleeding holes on his neck, back and chest from her teeth puncturing him, and claw marks on his face and rib cage. Looking at it from the side, it was obvious that several ribs had broken, as his body now looked deformed, a bone pushing against his skin from the outside. The jarred end was obvious and was causing a severe amount of pain. Though he willed for the pain to go away so he could keep his pride, his body started to shake as he slipped into shock. His eyes paled and when he tried to lift his head or stand he would tremble so bad he couldn't move. Whining again he laid there, breathing in agony. Each breath moved a broken rib which brought a new wave of pain each time. Maybe now he could die. Maybe now he could go be with Lexi. The thought of rejoining his sister warmed his aching, badly injured body. The wolf closed his eyes and let another trembling whimper. Well, at least Jynx didn't get hurt. For some reason, that thought washed Lexi's image from his mind. Yes, it was truly good that Jynx was ok. Or, he hoped it was. Koa slowly opened his eyes, shaking terribly as he lifted his head to try and see her.

``jynx;;. Why did this always have to happen to her? To the ones she cared about? She didn't want to leave him there alone, but she had. Why? Why did she run? She hated herself for this and if he didn't make it she would never go near another wolf ever again. Being alone was the only thing that kept the ones close to her safe, so she wouldn't stick around them anymore. She'd be alone if it would make the spirits happy. Her limbs moved her, she wasn't paying attention just running. The snarling sounds of an angry wolf rang out behind her. She had been instructed to run, but to where? And why did she listen? What use would she have been though? She was a weak female, she would have just gotten in the way. Right? Jynx shrugged her shoulders and kept moving, spotting a nice bush to cower behind. She glanced back to see the large mother bear slinging the large white wolf through the air. She closed her eyes and whined softly. A loud thumping drummed in her chest, her heart threatening to explode. She collapsed to the ground and whimpered, curling herself up in a small ball. Maybe if she tried hard enough she could disappear, then no one would be hurt because of her ever again. She buried her face in her tail, whining and trembling. What had she done? Her blood surged throught her veins as her sadness turned to anger. Koa didn't deserve this, no one did. She growled low and stayed curled up, her blood boiling by this point. She was sick of this happening. The sounds of fighting rang around in her ears and she brought her paws over them to try and block it out. She was cursed. No denying it now, every single time she got close to someone they got killed or hurt. And now, she met someone she thought she could really grow close to, that she could travel with and be happy, and this bear was threatening to take that away from her. Her body quivered, trying to contain herself and stay quiet. She gritted her teeth and waited what seemed like forever. Her whole body froze as the sound pierced her ears. It was that noise, that awful screeching that came from Koa. She cringed at it and tried to curl up tighter. Her jaw clenched tight and her teeth began to ache. The horrible sounds brought back so many memories all at once, Jynx almost couldn't take it. Every fight she had ever caused, came rushing back to her mind. She tried to fight them off but she couldn't. She remembered when she was just months old, the first time it happened. She only remembered it clearly because her mother reminded her so often. Jynx was playing with another pup in the pack, like she often did. The young male and Jynx were inseperable. They spent every free moment with each other, playing, exploring, and learning how to be a wolf. Everything was going fine until one day, that pup's father went insane. He killed his mate and all her pups except for one, Jynx's friend wasn't allowed to live. Jynx never knew what happened to that pup that survived, but she hated herself for that. Her mother did nothing to ease her pain, just kept reminding her about how her "curse" killed her best friend. All the other memories clouded her mind and Jynx felt like she was going to be sick. The tricolored fae felt lightheaded, but she refused to black out. She would be there as soon as the bear left, and she would either tend to Koa's wounds, or give him burial, whichever he needed. She prayed it wasn't the second option. The sounds of fighting brought her back to reality. She lifted her head slowly and her body swayed. She stood as she heard nothing, but whimpering that wasn't her own. She peeked around the bush and saw the bear retreating into the woods, two cubs in tow. Jynx forced herself to look at Koa, fearing the worst. His body was a broken heap on the ground. Jynx saw him struggle as he lifted his head. She gave a soft bark and ran over to his side as fast as her legs would carry her. Her heart broke as she looked at him. Every breath was agony for him and it was her fault. His white fur was stained with his own blood and he had broken ribs, that much was obvious. Jynx whined, water pooling in her eyes. She carefully nuzzled his face and gently eased his head back on the ground. Deep, gray orbs took in his pained movement. Her legs trembled and buckled under the weight of her heavy heart. Jynx staggered up though and circled Koa, inspecting his wounds. She didn't know what to do for his broken ribs, she would figure something out though. She moved back in front of him, slowly lowering her body to the ground. She swallowed hard and spoke softly, looking him in the eyes, her voice shaking. "Koa, I-I'm so sorry." She very carefully sat next to him, examining the wounds on the side of his face, they needed to be cleaned, all of them did. He would have to stay still or his ribs might rip something inside of him. She carefully leaned down and gently rested her nose against the top of his head, trying to calm him down. The water pooling in her eyes spilled out and began to run down her face. She felt horrible for this, and she'd never forgive herself. She held back her tears, she had to take care of him if she wanted him to make it through the night. She carefully licked the top of his head and began to tend to his wounds, trying to make it as comfortable for him as she could.

An overwhelming feeling washed over Koa's broken body when Jynx came into view. She was safe, unharmed. That was good enough for him. He whimpered softly every time he took air into his lungs or released it, so instead of speaking, he whined in agony. In a desperate attempt to regain his pride, Koa tried to roll onto his belly to stand which only resulted in another high pitched scream as he crumpled back onto the ground, his legs curling up as he writhed in agonizing pain. When he tried to position himself in a less painful position, it only made him cry out as he found a new spot that ached. True, Koa was panicking, and yes all of his pride was gone, but the waves of pain that hit him over and over were too much to bear. Koa's jaw quivered as he clenched his mouth to keep himself from giving another natural canine scream of pain when Jynx touched him. Gently she had pushed his head back down and he obliged without protest, his haunches trembling in pain.
Koa looked miserably at the Fae as she laid in front of him, wishing he could do something to comfort her. He swallowed and opened his mouth to talk, only to cough up blood. His rib had punctured his lung and it was filling with blood, making breathing all the more difficult. The bloodied white wolf blinked slowly, eyes glazing over. "No. It's not--" He choked on more blood and took a wheezing breath, "--your fault." He tried to will his body to stop trembling, but he couldn't stop the shivers. He felt cold, and suddenly panicked when he thought it was death here to claim him. He wanted to be with his sister, but he was afraid to die. Before Koa could tell her to stop, Jynx rested her head on his and he yelped quickly, squeezing his eyes shut as the vocalization hurt his neck. The bear had left a nasty bite right on the bottom of his neck, making speaking incredibly painful. Koa felt her tongue run against his open sores and clenched his teeth hard, letting out a deep growl that changed quickly into a whimper. He didn't want her to stop, he needed someone to help him, but it hurt so bad. With every sweep of her moist tongue, Koa wretched around, his nerves screaming at him to pull away from her. Yet he forced himself to calm his instincts and let her tend his cuts and bites.
The wolf tried his hardest to sit still for Jynx, but it was proving to be more difficult then he thought. Koa raked his mind for words he could say to comfort her. "I've seen worse done to a wolf," He gasped, closing his eyes at the pain. This pain was different, it was in his chest. His heart felt heavy with grief, but he felt the need to tell Jynx this. If he died, he at least wanted someone to know. "I watched my sister--" He licked at the blood coming from himself biting his own tongue "--get her skull crushed in. I watched an elk's hoof make my sister into a pile of skin and twisted limbs. I listened to her bones snapping. I even saw her heart still beating outside her body." Koa stopped and shivered violently. "I watched it stop." Tears welled up in his eyes, threatening to make him look more weak then he was. He held them at bay, "I sat there and watched my sister be killed by a creature we eat to survive. I didn't help. This is a mere scratch to what happened to her." Koa looked down, ashamed of himself. He didn't even try to aid his sister as he watched her be crushed into something unrecognizable. Yet, even though he felt guilt slide down his throat and swell his belly, relief washed over him. He finally let someone know, even if it was with his dieing breath. "Someone had to know." Koa shuddered, and then, stilled. He lay there, unresponsive, not moving, not breathing for a few seconds. But then, his chest started to rise and fall as his organs continued to work. He had passed out from the pain, but secretly, he would have been thankful. He didn't want to see Jynx cry over him. He wasn't worth it after all.

``jynx;;. She urged him to stay still as he tried to roll over. Her eyes were a deep black, two empty looking voids. Her heart sank as she tried to ease his suffering. Ears flattened as he cried out again. She trembled, her legs threatened to collapse again, but she wouldn't let them. She had to be strong now, she had to take care of him. He needed her now more than ever, even if he wouldn't say it. She didn't need him to say it, she could see it, hell anyone could. She thought she'd be used to watching the ones she cared about get torn down, killed, or mangled. She was wrong, this hurt more than anything she could recall. This time she wasn't chased off afterwards, she saw what her curse did to others. She saw how horrible it treated the ones she cared for. The once strong, healthy, prideful brute she had known lay before her in a broken heap. It would be a miracle if he saw the sun tomorrow. Jynx swallowed hard, tears rolling down her face. He would live damnit! She wouldn't let her curse get Koa. She refused. She was relieved that she let him ease his head back down, she made a note not to make unecessary contact with male. As much as she wanted to, she couldn't touch him to comfort him, she had to be careful. The tricolored fae whimpered softly, her heart breaking in her chest. He tried to speak only to cough up blood. Jynx panicked a bit and tried to calm him. He tried again, he got the words out... along with more blood. She lowered her face close to his, trying to ease him. "Shhh, none of that." She wouldn't protest anymore right now, knowing he'd try to comfort her. She didn't want him to lose anymore blood for her. She whined softly and pulled her face back up, away from his. The blood was in his lungs, she imagined. That rib had stabbed it most likely, though she wasn't sure. Her muscles quivered beneath her fur. All of her emotions fought to take control, Jynx struggled to stay in control. Anger swirled through her brain, sadness tried to break her. They couldn't win right now, she needed to be calm, needed to stay strong. He needed her to be strong. She instantly pulled away as he yelped, she felt bad and whimpered. She tried to clean each ofhis wounds the best she could, she quivered as she did so, tasting his blood in her mouth. His squirming made her feel bad. He was hurting, but it was a necessary pain. His wounds could get infected, and she wouldn't let it happen. She cleaned each of them as he whined and fidgetted. She finally finished for now and licked her tongue over her muzzle. All she could taste was his blood. It made her feel sick. She tilted her head at him, licking at her muzzle trying to get the taste of blood out. She tasted somthing slaty and noticed the tears streaming dow her face. She did her best to calm them, but she couldn't. She kept trying though. The she wolf's ears locked onto Koa as he tried his best to tell Jynx something. She listened closey to every agony filled word. He was telling her about something that had happened to his sister. The fae had been horrible mangled by elk, Koa felt guilty. Jynx swallowed hard and felt more tears roll down her already wet cheeks. She swallowed hard and spoke very softly. "Koa.. I'm sorry you had to witness all of that." She had no idea what else to say. Her fur trembled with her body as she sat, soaking up what Koa had said to her. She noticed that he had fallen very quiet. Jynx's heart instantly raced in her chest. He wasn't breathing, Jynx jumped to her feet and circled him, whimpering. She stopped at his bloody head."Koa? Koa, wake up." She panicked and whined. She licked his muzzle a few times and whimpered. "Please wake up." She lifted her head as breath came from him again. She whined softly and let her head rest on the ground for a few minutes in front of him, trying to calm herself down. OOC; I'm sorry its so short, my muse is dead right now x.x

Despite Jynx's pleads, Koa did not wake up. He couldn't wake up. He was staring at a blank canvas, seeing nothing but blinding white. Koa's view was not that of the norm, he was watching himself from above. Confused, the brute watched himself sniff the air and start to run. He wasn't moving, or at least, he didn't look like it. There was nothing but white, so it was possible he was moving, but there was no way to judge the distance. Koa watched as light pink stuff started to appear and fly behind him. So he was running. What was the coloration? The wolf watched as the pink started to darken and he soon realized it was blood. The more Koa's legs moved, the more blood appeared and it soon came to him that his legs were starting to get shorter. Clumps of flesh, skin, and hair was being left behind. There was a loud snap that pierced the wolf's ears, causing him to yelp loudly in pain. Koa watched himself collapse, screaming, as all of his legs were snapped in half. An invisible force lifted each one and slowly bent it to the point of breaking. It horrified the wolf as the pain started to sink in as he watched the other being scream and writh in pain. What was going on? Koa watched as gashes slowly started to engrave themselves on his face and sides and soon enough, he felt it cutting his flesh ever so slowly. It hurt, bad and he started to whimper. There was a grotesque squishing sound, life scarring screaming, and the echo of splitting flesh. Koa watched as his other self trembled, screaming, convlused. And, before he could blink, his head disconnected from his body and flew through the air in slow motion. Gasping, he watched the blood lift into the air slowly, waves and waves of crimson spurting around. He watched each drop touch the solid white ground, and then it came. That horrid sound, the sound of flesh being torn. And then, his head started to hurt.
In a panic, Koa jerked awake, eyes wide. He didn't move, but stretched his eyelids back far to let as much light as he could in. It was dark out, and he was in numbing pain. He felt it, but the pain was dull and faint. In an attempt to stretch a leg out, he inflicted a sharp pain on his body and stilled himself instantly. If he didn't move, it didn't hurt. Swallowing hard, Koa looked around, careful not to move his head. Where was Jynx? He couldn't see her. He tried to clear his throat, and let out a single cry cough. "Jynx?" He croaked, looking longlingly at the shimmering water. He wanted it. He needed it. His throat dried the more he thought of the cold liquid sliding down to cool his burning insides. An idea struck the injured wolf, and using as little strength as he could, he slowly asked the ground to lower itself. Concentrating until the point were his head pulsed, Koa created a small long streak in the ground and asked the earth to create a small pool near his head. Forcing his powers to work, he collasped the dam he used to hold the water and watched the liquid slide slowly toward him. Come closer, he asked mentally, licking his dry mouth. By the time the little hole near his head was filled with cold liquid, Koa depseratly lifted his head and lapped at the cold water, drinking as much as he could.
He filled his belly with enough water that it made him sick and he gagged, coughed, and threw up some of the liquid. But, he didn't feel like his ribs were on fire anymore. Sighing heavily, he tried to roll himself onto his belly but another strike of pain hit his gut and he stilled himself. "Jynx," he started, looking up at the moon, "Don't worry anymore." His voice was dull, lifeless, quiet, strained. "It doesn't hurt that much." He ended with a shudder to his shoulder and closed his eyes, his body aching everywhere. "I'll be okay," He whispered, more to himself then to the fae wherever she was. "I'll be..." He trailed off, suddenly feeling really tired. "Okay...I think I...Just want to close my eyes. I just...want to sleep. I've never felt...so tired...before." The creepy feeling of death hadn't worried him, nor had it caught his attention. His instrincts screamed at him to stay awake, warning him of something. But, he couldn't hear them. His breathing slowed and he tried to keep his eyes open. Something in the back of his mind told him to stay awake, and for some reason, he tried to listen to it. His instincs screeched at him, telling him not to sleep, or he'd die.

``jynx;;. She prayed to the spirits that he would come back, that he wouldn't be taken from her so quickly. That if he came back she would go, that was her prayer, if that's what it took. Tears rolled down her face. She would never forgive herself for this, and she would definitely never forget. The tears came more frequently as she watched him struggle. His body fought to stay alive. Blood caked on his once pure white fur. It was stained, and Jynx was afraid it wouldn't have the chance to be cleaned off. [Koa.. Please don't go, don't leave me here alone. Her breath caught in her throat as she lowered her head and wept. It was silent, but it caused her shoulders to shake. He wasn't waking up, would he ever? She couldn't bring herself to look up at him. She wouldn't risk seeing his body lifeless, limp. The fae curled up tight beside him, trying to hold herself together. The black orbs rolled inherent head, just barely looking at the male. His sides were still heaving, painful breath was still keeping him alive. Jynx was relieved that he was alive. She whimpered softly and squirmed nervously next to him.
She wanted him to wake up, he needed to. She lowered her head again, more tears came from her. Her heart sank. Thoughts came to her about the pack she last got kicked from. A young female was expecting pups, she was a high ranking female and Jynx was required to help care for her and her pups. While they were alone one afternoon a panther sniffed them out. It attacked and Jynx fought it as hard as she could but it knocked her away, and jumped on the other female. It killed her and carried her body away. Jynx had to go back and tell the pack, but they didn't believe her. They blamed Jynx. They kicked her out. Jynx was close to that female, she missed her at times lime this, she would know how to help. The sound of his weak voice snapped her back. She moved to where he could see her. Koa? I'm here, right here. she watched him bring water to his lips and desperately drink at the liquid. She smiled, happy that he was awake. She watched him carefully, ready to pull his head out if he should black out in the water.
She watched him finish drinking and he closed his eyes, she panicked. He couldn't sleep, she knew that much, as tired as he was, Koa would have to stay conscious at least for a while. She was afraid he was dying. Koa.. Koa! You can't go to sleep. You have to stay awake... Koa... Please, stay awake for me. She wasn't surer why she thought he would for her. He barely even knew her. She whimpered and tried to keep him conscious. Her mind was so focused on him she almost didn't notice it. The fae looked up, instantly horrified. Smoke was pouring over the top of the trees. She whimpered and the panicky feeling multiplied by one thousand in her chest. Her ears laced down to her skull, she was terrified. She didn't know what to do. She circled Koa nervously. Whines came from her often, she watched the fire, and then her eyes would shift to Koa, making sure he was breathing. She was exhausted and she didn't know what to do. She sat next to Koa and wept, watching the smoke pour up into the sky, orange flames slowly engulfed the trees. Jynx was afraid, very afraid. She needed someone to help her.

The white wolfs ear merely twitched as Jynx cried his name. Weakly, he opened one eye, something that would have been so simple but now was harder then he ever imagined. "Awake." He murmured, sighing heavily. The deep breath in wasn't so deep as he coughed and struggled to breath. The brute gave a pathetic trembling whimper, clenching his jaw tight as he did so. His glazed eyes shifted to Jynx as she continued speaking. She wanted him to stay awake for her. "Okay, Jynx. Okay." He sighed, wincing every now and then as he fought the deathly feeling that came after him. And so, he just laid there, breathing in agony as new waves of pain crashed over his body. The whimper Jynx gave made him slowly look up, and that's when he saw it. Fire.
It didn't scare him, but he felt it wanted him. It wanted to burn him, it wanted to torture him and slowly cook him from the outside in. It wanted him dead. Maybe it would be a good release from the pain he felt? Every now and then Jynx would get in the way of his gaze and it became apparent she was circling him. Almost annoyed, he went to tell her to stop but he heard her crying. The pain made him think blindly, but on impulse, the wolf stood. There was a nasty cracking sound as he rose, but he had to. Instead of screaming in pain like he really wanted to, he clenched his jaw harder then he ever had before. For a minute, he stood there, legs trembling, instincts screeching at him to just lay down. But he knew he couldn't. No matter the pain he felt, he would not
let another cry over his death. He was not worth Jynxs' tears. He was not going to let her suffer and grieve over him while he still breathed. Koa leaned on Jynx for support for a moment. He would apologize later for getting blood on her as his wounds began to bleed again. Through clenched jaws, he murmured, "Let's go." And then, with all the strength and willpower he could find, Koa started to walk. Every step he took jarred his ribs against his side, and the excruciating pain was something awful. But, he had to keep going. Wincing heavily, Koa managed to make it back to the tree line, in the opposite direction of the flames. When he stopped to lean on a tree, he looked back to see the fire even closer. And then, an idea sparked in his mind. No pun intended. Earlier, Jynx said she had some faint control over magic. And then, he had smelt fire. But it wasn't from the wildfire, it couldn't have been. Jynx could control fire. If he hadn't been bleeding from holes in his body, Koa would have jumped with triumph. "Jynx," He croaked, "You have to start a fire." He licked his maw and readjusted himself on the tree. "Make one long enough to beat that one. It won't have anything to burn. It'll die if it hits another fire." Koa looked hard into Jynxs' eyes. She had to do this. There was no way Koa would be able to outrun the fire, and sooner or later it would catch up to him and catch him ablaze. Before Koa could stop himself, he blurted, "I'm going to die if you don't Jynx. There's no way I can get away from it, it's burning too fast. You have to. I know you can." occ; word count; 610 muse; 20.8% tags; Chloe! [/blockquote]
