In a strange and wonderful world called Earth, there was a beautiful valley full of magic, where wolves had amazing powers, unusual abilities, and odd mutations. To the east of this valley, where high windy steppes soared with effortless grace beneath a misty horizon, there lived a pack named the Aurora Caeli, dawn of the sky, and in the centre of their territory was a lake. This perfectly circular lake was believed by some of the Aurora Caeli to be the centre of the world. It was called Ambran Caeli, shadow of the sky, and the water was clear and dark and cool. It reflected in shimmering ripples the form of the small red wolf proceeding, with a pounce and a skip and a hop, across the stepping stones that led to the island. For in this lake was an island, a pretty little island; grassy, with a few trees around the edge, with a brisk cool breeze that blew off the lake. Aurora Caeli territory was never the warmest place in the world, and the island was no exception; exposed, windy, and with nothing else on it except a few dark rocks. But it was a pretty little island, and it was right at the centre of the territory, and just the perfect size to allow the pack to gather comfortably without being too spacey. Lyta, Majara of the pack, stood at the centre of it now and lifted her head to howl. Wolves of the Aurora Caeli! I call you for a pack meeting! howled the little red wolf, and then lowered her head and smiled to herself. She couldn't see any sign of her packmates at the moment, but she knew they were there, and they would come. Aurora Caeli territory was cold and big and windy and pretty much nothing lived there except rabbits, and the pack would be spread all over the place, running and hunting where they wished. That was the Alliance's way; freedom, movement, space. There wasn't a real reason for Lyta to call a meeting. There was no emergency, no promotions to be made or mentors to be appointed, no criminals to be trialled, nothing to do really. They simply hadn't had a meeting in a while, and she'd heard that some of her wolves had disappeared; wandered off and never come back, or left the pack. The Alliance had grown quiet of late, and that was not a situation she would allow to remain. Lyta found herself a slightly larger rock and jumped up onto it. For a moment she scrabbled for balance, foot-long claws unsheathing and scraping against the rock as she searched for grip. Then she pulled herself onto it, settling into a comfortable crouch with her tail wrapped around her paws like a cat, and waited patiently. Her pack would come. OOC: I just randomly decided to hold a pack meeting I guess, since Spectrum's just back from hiatus, and I wanna see which members of the pack are still around, who's new, and if any high ranks need switching around, and y'know, just generally to revitalise the pack a bit. Don't worry too much about getting responses in if you're busy it's not very important. Conversely if you're able I'd love some responses so we can get this pack up and running again I know this post is awful and (gasp) table-less. Please ignore me - I'm getting back into this - haven't played anything but Starfleet officers in a while

Yssu's return journey from the marsh near Aurora Caeli territory had been long and arduous, but not at all unpleasant, for she had had, the whole time, a companion who constantly lifted her spirits and amused her with games and talk. Still, the Aurora Caeli heir had been glad when she had started recognizing landmarks as they neared her home. There was the tall grove of trees in a peaceful field that was one of her favorite spots. There was the tiny glittering waterfall in the stream that ran through the territory. There was the geyser she and her packmates liked to hang around on cold days.
Suddenly a voice reached the white wolf's ears, and she froze and lifted her head to pinpoint it. It was Lyta, the Majara, calling her pack to the lake Ambran Caeli. Immediately Yssu sent back a wordless howl, to let Lyta know that she was coming, and turned halfway to look for Auralee, who was supposed to be following her. "Come on, Aura!" she called excitedly to her young companion, tail waving with excitement. "That's our leader."
As Yssu continued through the bright, lively forest toward the center of her pack's territory, she couldn't help but wonder why the Majara had called a formal meeting. The heir had only been gone for a few days, and when she had left the pack and territory had seemed quiet--perhaps one of the Comitans was graduating?
She couldn't help but pick up the pace a little. Being home, soon to see her friends, lent new strength to her exhausted, hungry body. Soon the forest opened up and before Yssu stretched a beautiful, smooth lake that reflected the sky so perfectly that the clouds might have been floating atop the surface of the water. After a moment of admiration of the lake's beauty, the horned wolf made her way along the shore to where a line of smooth stones jutted out of the water. She hopped a few stones out, then turned around to make sure Auralee could follow. She smiled at the young wolf encouragingly, hoping her small size, and thus the low weight of Aura's body, would make it so she could jump easily from rock to rock.

A single, dancing light caught the side of the small cave scar which she crouched in, shielded from the piercing wind of the high peaks of the Dragon's Back. She could not see the light on the outside, and she had not for a few days. Her stomach was growling for attention, filling the long, shallow caves with the quelching moans of her self-induced famine, but she dreaded the outside. The soft, calm gleams of the colorful scales cast crystalline stars throughout the cave walls in an eternal night. Since so many of her pack members had dispersed, she had also gone into a hiatus which was not so becoming of her as she might have wished. With the twinkling scale-stars lighting up the glow of her violet eyes, thoughts about destiny and greatness soared through her mind like sparrows. She saw her father's glorious coat matted in blood with her famed brother bowing, nose in the dirt. The image had plagued her for days. She stared stars in the face and wondered which was the brightest; thus would be her mother in her solemn duty. She caught the wink of the brightest celestial spirit dancing like a rogue fire on the cave wall, blinked, and she was gone.
She sat on her haunches, her movement causing the stones to shift and the cave's expanse to look as if the heavens were moving. The clacking stones made faint echoes in the long cave, but she feared standing and hitting her skull on the cave's ceiling. The stones were warm with the humid smog of the stagnant cave, a delightful contrast to the outside frigidity. Her stomach crooned again as she thought she heard the echo of a faint howl. She was silent for a minute, testing her senses to see if she still knew one sound from another, when she heard a secondary howl; the howl was unmistakably that of Yssu, the Alliance's heir. Her heart excited. Lyta was calling a pack meeting. Her short hibernation was abundant with misspent time and the return of the pack to full power was the only star that twinkled on the nights with no moon. She stood, shaking dust from her pelt, and emerged into the cold mountain breeze outside in just a few steps.
The wind, however brisk, brought no feeling of cold to her as her legs pounded east toward the border of Alliance territory. Entry into the scent barriers brought her bliss, a shameful amount. She was half goddess. Why should she be so giddy for a simple gathering? As such thoughts were permeating her head, her legs were incessant on advancing toward the lake. She felt the energy of Dynam coursing through her, her eyes almost certainly alight with a vibrant violet. The glorious outline of the trees in the distance sent a shrill up her spine as she slowed to meet the lake's edge. Her breath caught up with her and she began to pant. She drank water from Ambran Caeli, sending cool ripples across the water's calm surface. She looked up from her drink to see two eyes, glittering like scales in the water's reflection, which sent a smile she had never seen before to her face. It was unnerving.
With a small stir, she saw movement across the lake as Yssu and a strange companion made their way to the island on stones that dotted the lake. Nearer to her was a fallen tree, thin perhaps, but she was lighter than she looked. Cautiously first, but later bounded with confident steps, she crossed the tree and felt the soft sod of the island. The middle of the island was largely surrounded by foliage. She wove through a medley of crosshatched branches and undisturbed vines to the center of the island, where she emerged from the shadow of a small grove of trees into the clearing. Lyta's back was to her, but she had made no attempt to hide her arrival. She sat simply; straight, with her tail resting lightly on her relaxed paws. Her head was cocked gently, her grey eyes blinking intelligently at Lyta in the living shadows of the trees' canopy.

AURALEE Her time in the marshes had been fun, and when she met Yssu it became much better, she’d even managed to halfways “hunt” a croaker. As they had plodded through the marsh, splattering themselves with mud and water and such, Auralee had been in a very good mood, the lands had been in a very good mood, even Yssu seemed to be in a very good mood. The whole trip though it was long and messy had been great, Aura and Yssu had managed to keep each other’s spirits up and keep a smile on their faces. Even now they were still keeping each other happy but Aura was beginning to wear down. As Aura plodded along behind Yssu, her eyelids beginning to get heavy and starting to droop over her pale silver-grey eyes, her grey-black coat reflected the grey light of the after storm sun, her head and tail drooped, her fox red stockinged paws hurt and she was barely lifting them up. The distance between her and Yssu was steadily increasing but Aura couldn’t make herself increase her pace. She sighed heavily and kept a tiresome weary eye on Yssu’s distinct horned and snow-dyed frame so as she wouldn’t get lost in an unknown area, she had known the marshes so she wasn’t as worried about getting lost there, this place was different. Even her snowy companion’s happiness couldn’t liven up the fox sized yearling. But Aura was determined NOT to lose Yssu. She was doing surprisingly well actually. As they padded through the lands, Aura’s ears perked at the howl, and Yssu’s answer and she slowly lifted her head and paused as she looked at Yssu just as the horned wolf looked back at her and spoke, her voice partly brightening the little yearling’s weary body. Come on, Aura! That's our leader. Aura flashed the she-wolf a smile and her tail waved a tiny bit without really rising up. Aura felt the changes in her companion and the excitement she felt, seemed to help the little fox-sized yearling to pick up her own weary frame. She even found herself racing past Yssu, only to drop back to do it all over again. On the last of her dart and fall back runs, she came up short and her pale silver-grey eyes widened a bit at the sight of the lake. Was this where they were going? In moments Aura’s eyes shifted back to the dark navy blue, she had always been afraid of huge expanses of water. She gulped imperceptibly and turned to Yssu as she stepped out onto rocks, Aura was all but frozen in place, she couldn’t bring herself to approach the water any closer. Despite the encouragement in Yssu’s smile, Aura’s fox-red legs and paws refused to move her forward. Aura whimpered somewhat loudly and then fell into a laying position and buried her nose between her forelegs, her ears drooped and she half shook her head. She could not follow Yssu out into the water, even if it was on the rock path. As she lay upset on the lake’s shore, she saw movement and her eyes fell upon a grey wolf and then above the grey, her frightened eyes picked up a reddish wolf. Oh if only her paws would move her! She whimpered again and then cried out to Yssu. “Yssu I can’t do it!” Oh what could the yearling do?

((I'm going to go ahead and post out of order, since the others in the thread are already on the island. Hope y'all don't mind.))
If only Yssu had been an empath like Aura, and had been able to feel the younger wolf's fatigue, she might have lightened the pace for her sake. As it was, the Aurora Caeli heir had apparently reverted to her obliviously self-interested self, and in her excitement in being home, had forgotten to think of Auralee. Even after she had noticed the young wolf shrink back from the water's edge and cry plaintively, her first thought was of Lyta. She cast a sideways glance at the island to see if the Majara was watching. What would she think of a wolf who was afraid of water? Would she deem Aura an unworthy coward and refuse her entry to the pack?
No. Yssu would not let that happen. She had promised to protect this wolf, and she would not let Aura down, but neither would she leave the home and family she had come to love. Aura would have to cross the water. If she didn't, Yssu would have to make a choice, and the horned wolf was not into making choices.
She hopped back to the shore and pressed her nose against Aura's side, trying to comfort her. "Yes you can, Aura, I know you can. It's not that bad. The water's shallow, the rocks are close together, and I can swim. I promise I'll save you if you fall in. Which you won't." She tried to infuse the last sentence with an air of confidence, as if it were a secret only she and Aura knew.

She was shaken up, she’d almost drown in the river when she was three months old, the memory still haunted the yearling. She sniffled a little and then she felt an approach, blinking a little she felt the gentle touch of a nose and moved to turn to look at Yssu. Her ear twitched forward to pick up Yssu’s lyrics, Yes you can, Aura, I know you can. It's not that bad. The water's shallow, the rocks are close together, and I can swim. I promise I'll save you if you fall in. Which you won't. The grey-black and fox-red yearling sniffled once more, but a smile crept unbidden to her lips. The air of confidence that Yssu put on the last word made the smile widen a little but still the memory haunted Aura, but she spoke, her lyrics surprisingly strong for such a scared little pup. “I don’t know how you’ve got such confidence in me Yssu, you really think I can do it?” She paused shifting to a sitting position, her orbs still the dark navy blue of her fright. “Walk behind me Yssu, just to give me the motivation to keep moving forward. Please?” Aura said, as she was up on her dainty paws now and heading for the path in the water.
Cautiously, Aura stepped onto the first stone, only her front paws and looked back to be sure that Yssu was close…confident that she was, Aura slowly lifted a forepaw and placed it on the next stone. A hind paw joined the forepaw on the first rock Aura wobbled momentarily she gasped and sucked in a breath and held it. Very cautiously, Aura moved her last hind paw onto the first rock with the other hind paw, then she cautiously moved the second forepaw to the next stone, then the first hind paw to the second stone, and the last hind paw was on the first rock, she had one paw on each of the first four rocks. She let her breath go and tried to still her shaking frame.
Taking another deep breath, Aura attempted to make another move forward and succeeded, but then when she went to make another move, her first forepaw slipped on a tiny patch of algae beginning to grow on it and then, she fell, all four paws slipped off their rocks and then with a yelp, Aura hit the water. Panic filled her and she cried out, “YSSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” But then, her paws met solid ground, and she fell instantly silent and grew a little embarrassed as she stood in the chest high water. Building up her confidence again, Aura started moving back toward the stone path.
Climbing back onto the path she looked back at Yssu. “You were right Yssu. Now I feel really stupid.” Sighing, Aura bounded back onto the rocks, her eyes returning to their normal pale silver-grey. Trotting across the path she reached the island and then stopped and sat looking back at Yssu her embarrassment shared with her and with the other two wolves she had seen earlier. Then she looked at Yssu and spoke again, “Yssu, can you teach me how to swim? How to beat my fear of water?” She spoke low enough, that the other two would not hear her and Yssu would barely hear her. She was still very embarrassed by her prior encounter with the lake.

OOC: I'm a terrible person! And a terrible alpha! I'm sorry I'm being so useless about replying! Basically it's exam season - you know how it is - couple of GCSEs next week - worked off my feet - have been repeatedly fainting in class - yeah. Sorry. Activity will pick up after my GCSE gets done, honest it will.
As Lyta had expected, it did not take long for her pack to begin to gather. The first things she caught were the scents that preceded each of them. She turned her head as she found Narra's scent on the breeze, and smiled briefly, before catching Yssu's scent mixed with one she did not recognise. She bristled slightly, then made her fur lie flat. There were plenty of perfectly reasonable reasons why there might be a scent she didn't recognise, and if they were with Yssu, then Lyta trusted they were friendly. Suddenly she noticed Narra behind her, sitting in the shade of some trees. She smiled and jumped down off her rock, approaching the Cercaethor. "Narra! It's good to see you. How have you been?" She was swiftly distracted from her friend by a scream of 'Yssu!'. She whipped around, tensing, then relaxed when she saw the Heir, accompanied by a wolf who apparently seemed to be less than comfortable with the stepping stones that allowed access to the island. With a swift nod of greeting to Narra, Lyta padded softly towards the stepping stones, tail in the air. "Hello, Yssu. I see you've brought a friend." Lyta asked, her tone casually inquiring as she cast her gaze over the newcomer. She hoped this was a new member; the pack needed them, and they gave Lyta a warm fuzzy feeling. "Perhaps I should carve protection symbols on these rocks to make them less slippery. I trust you weren't harmed by your fall there?" She directed the last question at the newcomer.

Yssu nodded in response to Aura's request and followed behind the young wolf as she, with painful slowness, moved from rock to rock, trying to keep her impatience under control. She was eager to reunite with Lyta and Narra. A quick sniff of the air told the heir that no other wolves from the pack had shown up yet, and Yssu didn't know whether or not that was cause for worry. She had no idea where the others were; she had assumed that most would be in the territory, or somewhere nearby. Maybe she was wrong. Maybe the others had deserted the pack.
An image flashed through her mind--warm eyes, green fur, antlers, spreading wings--but Yssu banished it from her mind. The thought of not seeing Soul again made her sad.
Aura's urgent wail jarred the horned wolf into the present. Aura had slipped and fallen into the water, but quickly realized that the water was not deep enough for her to drown in it.
Now that Aura had realized that the water wasn't very deep, she seemed much more confident in her movements. Yssu let the pup climb back up on her own, offering the first words of consolation she thought of: "It's okay, you didn't know. Next time will be better. Life's a learning game." But by that time, Aura was bounding toward the island, remarkably more courageous now.
Yssu followed, taking care to avoid the slippery spots of the rocks. While drowning was no danger here, a sprained ankle could be just as deadly. She sat by Aura. A warm, gratified feeling spread through her as the young wolf asked Yssu to help her get over her phobia. With a smile, she replied, "Yes, honey bee, of course I'll help you."
She looked up to see Lyta approaching, impressively in her intensely-colored fur and confidence. The heir nodded in greeting, respect, and affirmation, all at once. "This is Auralee. We met in a marsh by the Rainbow River. She has no where else to go."

I'm also going to ignore posting order because, uh, this is a big thread and our posting order has already fallen apart so yeah. I'll give y'all a Corin post as soon as I can think of a suitably goofy entrance. And I will stop posting flailingly short posts as soon as my GCSE is over [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true] | [scrolly:h(304),w(500),sy][atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/169tB.png] Lyta was beginning to be worried as well. Some of the others should be here by now. However, she was willing to be patient. They could be coming from all corners of the territory. Sometimes wolves showed up late, carrying heavy pieces of prey for the pack or saying they'd been up at Aquila and had had to climb all the way down to come. It wasn't time to worry yet, Lyta was sure. And even if it was, and this was all that was left, that was okay; she would build up again right from the beginning. They had done it once and Lyta would happily lead them in doing it again. Lyta nodded and grinned. New members at the pack meeting was a good sign; if they did have to build back up from the beginning, then this was a perfect start. "Greetings, Auralee. You are welcome in the Alliance."

She stood silently, vigilantly, as Lyta surveyed the clearing and noticed her. With a slight jump, she had said, "Narra! It's good to see you! How have you been?" The joyousness of her welcome sent a blaze of feeling to her eyes, twinkling in the dark. A small grin tugged at the corner of her mouth as her tail unwound itself around her front paws and swept away the leaves that had blown toward her. Her tail swept back, tucking lightly into its place around her feet and twitching with hidden amusement as she replied, "Well enough." She dared not elaborate further. The stars of ambition were still twinkling inside of her.
Her ears perked as she heard the distant splash and call for Yssu as, undoubtedly, the young heir's companion had taken a dip in Umbran Caeli. The presence of outsiders often made her restless, but she didn't fear a youngling, especially one that was incapable of swimming. The weakness made her smirk. Lyta, however, jumped and swung her head toward the stepping stones which the youngling was climbing, soaked, back on to. Lyta nodded to her, almost to assure her that she wasn't forgotten, and headed toward Yssu and the youngling. She obliged in staying put, laying relaxed on her haunches with one foot crossed elegantly over the other and her tail plodding melodiously at her side. She listened as Yssu explained that the youngling, Auralee, had 'nowhere else to go.' Her ears twitched in mild amusement. Yssu had found herself a pet. Lyta, being the generous leader she was, accepted the young one. As things were now, she didn't disagree. None other than them had shown up so far. If they were going to rebuild to be as strong as Narra had wanted, they would need a larger populace and strong foundation: the younglings. They had to start somewhere. Also this pet wasn't promising in her strength and courage, she may have knowledge of herbs that would help them in the long run. And an extra set of claws never hurt.
For now, she didn't question Lyta's judgement, but she would slip up eventually. As she watched the scene unfolding in front of her, dignified and obedient as she appeared on the outside, the stars of ambition twinkled behind her eyes.

Aura heard Yssu as she spoke, It's okay, you didn't know. Next time will be better. Life's a learning game. Yes, honey bee, of course I'll help you. Aura smiled and she knew Yssu was right and after settling just beyond the stepping stone path onto the island, Aura heard a voice, but it was not Yssu’s, Hello, Yssu. I see you've brought a friend. Perhaps I should carve protection symbols on these rocks to make them less slippery. I trust you weren't harmed by your fall there? Aura knew the speaker was the Alpha but being young and embarrassed as she was Aura tucked herself partly behind Yssu and murmured, her voice low, “No, I just got a little wet and a little embarrassed.” As she half hid behind Yssu, Aura crept closer to the Lead Mistress but stayed close to Yssu, the only wolf she trusted at the moment, the only one Aura knew, her audits twitched a little as Yssu answered the Alphess, This is Auralee. We met in a marsh by the Rainbow River. She has nowhere else to go. Creeping back into view, Aura looked to the Alphess and her ears picked up her lyrics again, Greetings, Auralee. You are welcome in the Alliance. Aura dipped her head in respect as she spoke, “Thank you Lady, I appreciate it.” She said, her voice gaining back some strength as she began to get a better set of feelings from this unknown wolf, her new leader.
The other wolf that she had seen earlier though, Aura was still getting uncertain feelings from them, they would get better over time she guessed. She turned her pale silver-grey eyes to her leader and a half smile claimed her lips. She had a home, a family! It was everything the yearling needed. At least for the time being. Her tail waved a little and then she turned her gaze to the third wolf on the island. Perhaps she could get along with them too, eventually, but she didn’t think anyone would have more of her trust that Yssu did, despite the fact that Yssu was not the leader. When Aura trusted someone, that bond was unbreakable, even by a higher rank. “I’m finally home.” She said as her tail waved a little as she looked amongst the three wolves.

Yssu's heart seemed to soar at Lyta's words. Aura was accepted into the Alliance! Of course she was, the heir told herself happily. Lyta would never turn down a wolf in need. How could she have ever doubted that she would take in Auralee? And now that the little wolf had a place in the pack, Yssu could start teaching her soon. Aura would be an expert rabbit hunter in no time. In time she could even help to chase down larger prey. And it would be Yssu who taught her.
The horned wolf managed to keep her enthusiasm in check, but allowed it to show in her smile and wagging tail. She looked toward Narra, and her tail stilled. Would the Cercaethor, as the Alliance's lead hunter, take interest in the new youngster's training? For some reason, Yssu was not so keen on the idea. It wasn't that she didn't trust Narra. She was a packmate and Yssu would fight alongside her as readily as she would Lyta, but the Cercaethor was so quiet and cold. It made Yssu a little nervous sometimes. Not to mention that Narra's smile could be positively unnerving.
Yssu stood, nuzzled Aura to tell her that she could come with the heir if she wished, and trotted toward Narra. Even though the hunter scared Yssu a bit, she was happy to see one of her packmates. She offered the Cercaethor a smile as she approached. "Hello, Narra," she said. "It's good to see you again." She sat down next to the gray wolf. "Aura had very little experience hunting, and has an interesting, rather handicapping condition. I'm going to try to teach her to hunt, and any help you'd like to give is welcome."

"You don't have to hide behind the Heir, you realise. None of us... will bite you," she swiftly corrected herself after realising that 'none of us bite' was not strictly true. "And you can call me Lyta, or Majara if you'd really prefer. We don't stand on ceremony much here." She shook her head slightly, smiling to herself. Lady was a new one. She thought for a second that she kind of liked that, actually, before telling herself firmly to stop it. She was the Majara, not Queen Of The Universe. "You look around the size for a Cirrara-Scirion," commented Lyta. "We'll have to find you a mentor, of course." Lyta paced back towards the centre of the clearing, looking around anxiously. She watched with an absent-minded halfsmile as Yssu talked to Narra about Aura's hunting; that was exactly the kind of teamwork she'd been pushing for in her pack, and it gave her a warm fuzzy feeling to see it happening. It gave her much less of a warm fuzzy feeling to see how few wolves had turned up. Lyta was beginning to become anxious, scanning the cold horizon with green eyes narrowed against the brisk lake breeze. She couldn't see any wolves approaching, and that had her worried. She sighed, and settled down by the centre of the island, keeping her worry under control. She would be patient. She would wait for her pack.

C O R I N Corin was getting better at this whole 'flying' lark. Today he had managed to catch a pigeon. He hadn't actually eaten it - it had hit him on the nose with its wing and he'd been so surprised he'd let it go - but the important thing was that he'd caught it. And he hadn't crashed into a tree. And he hadn't been chased by a hawk. And he hadn't forgotten to flap his wings and ended up in the lake. No, he had avoided all of those mistakes - he - what was that?Corin looked down. Nope, that tree definitely hadn't been there the last time - what last time?, his brain was yelling, and suddenly it occurred to him that this wasn't Alliance territory. Corin cursed frantically. He'd forgotten where he was. He'd been so absorbed in swooping after that pigeon - now he was lost. For a moment he panicked, but it seemed Corin was in luck today. Quite apart from the pigeon, it seemed the Majara was calling a pack meeting. But that wasn't the important part - the important part was, that way was home! He spun around, ears pricked towards the sound, then started frantically flapping in that direction. He soared higher on a thermal, glided down over the moor, and it wasn't actually that long before he began to recognise landmarks. This was Aurora Caeli territory. It wasn't just that he knew the places he saw - he knew the feel of it, the cold fresh winds and the empty silent freedom and the smell of rabbits. Corin liked rabbits. He wanted to hunt rabbits. He hovered for a moment, then spotted what looked like one. Gliding overhead - he was too high for it to possibly smell - he circled, trying to get his technique just right; left wing tilted a little, and a little bit more, not that far, and pause and twist and dive... Corin crashed into the ground, rolling several times before he came to a complete standstill in a bundle of feathers and ruffled fur. The rabbit gave him an unimpressed look, not even bothering to run away. Corin sat up, straightening his ears out with his paws. Right, now that was just humiliating. His landing was being mocked by a rabbit. Snarling, he paced towards it. The rabbit turned and ran, but Corin was quicker; he used a powerful flap of his wings to aid his leap. Rabbits were clearly unused to the idea of a creature which was equally swift on the ground and in the air. He grabbed it within his teeth and shook it swiftly, then turned to look around, smiling triumphantly and looking for somebody to show his catch to. Oops! They would all be at the island on Ambran Caeli for the meeting, and he ought to be there too. Struggling to take off with the rabbit between his jaws, Corin made it into the air in a flurry of broken feathers and bruised pride, then wearily pushed himself towards the lake. He saw water below him, then the land of the island. With a heave of exhaustion, he threw his prey down below him and then circled, slowly descending for his landing. He made a better one this time, setting himself down on the grass with barely a stumble, and then looked up. "Oops," he said, as he realised he'd dropped the rabbit on somebody's head. "Erm... sorry. Sorry I'm late. I... brought a rabbit. As you can see. Sorry for that too. I..." Corin crouched down in the grass, hiding himself in embarrassment with his camouflaged green fur.

Her eyes were glossy as she looked away from the conversing of the Majara, the heir, and the yearling. Their words were heard in her ears, but they meant nothing to her. They were incoherent to the storm of reveling that broke over her mind's shores. She heard the measured, evenly-spaced steps that told her of the heir's approach. She returned from her reverie to blink at Yssu from the calm, breathing shadows of the trees.
"Hello, Narra." She responded with a curt nod, hoping futilely that the short greeting would be the end of it. But, of course, it wasn't. "It's good to see you again." She chuckled lightly at Yssu's pleasentries. It seems that's the trend, she thought, referencing how Lyta had said, more or less, the same thing. "Aura had very little experience hunting, and has an interesting, rather handicapping condition. I'm going to try to teach her to hunt, and any help you'd like to give is welcome." She would have chuckled, again, at how casually pleasantries were exchanged, but she sighed to marvel at how dire their situation seemed. Just the three of them had showed so far. Narra had no doubt in her mind that Corin would materialize, in a frenzy of feathers and fluff, but the brunt of their chance to endure would be resting on the 'handicapped' shoulders of the hydrophobic youngling.
"Right." Right. She grimaced, the muscles above her eyes meeting at a crease on her forehead. She couldn't muster much more to say than 'right,' as it were. Her eyes closed, and she was silent in solemn contemplation. Were things really so bad that she would be spending her time training the comparably untrainable? Was this what her discipleship had come to? She sighed. Eyes still closed, she spoke, "Well, I-" Her eyes flashed open, blazing violet in the island's relative darkness, as the rabbit dropped down from the sky's black canvas above the yearling. She stood over the young one in an instant, flinching as the dead weight hit her in the crown of her head and collapsed in a heap on the grass. At that moment, as if on cue, Corin swooped down. "Oops."
She was seething. "Oops? You nearly crushed her," she lifted her paw to reveal the young one, sheltered under her underbelly, so that the flying buffoon could see who he nearly walloped, "with your hunk of rabbit." She spat out the consonants in 'rabbit' as if she were vegetarian. Truthfully, Corin wrongly received the brunt of her frustrations and dissatisfaction with the Alliance's population dilemna, but he was unfortunate enough to be the lowest ranking here and therefore the most susceptible to her wrath. A sputtering mess, Corin righted himself after an ever-so-graceful crash-landing and blurted out an apology, "Erm... sorry. Sorry I'm late. I... brought a rabbit. As you can see. Sorry for that too. I..." Her ears twitched in agitation as her tail swung like a weighted pendulum behind her back. Her eyes were a cold grey, hollow and dark like a tunnel millions of miles long, and they had sight only for Corin. With a final glare, she stepped away from her protective stance over the youngling and resumed her position at the edge of the clearing, teetering between the darkness of the small forest's cover and the clear light that the rising moon shone in the clearing.

Aura felt Yssu’s mood change and found herself stepping out from the safety she’d wrapped around herself as she had been huddled close to Yssu. She felt the gentle nudge Yssu offered her just as she headed toward the other wolf on the island. Aura was on her paws as she heard the lyrics of her new leader. You don't have to hide behind the Heir, you realise. None of us...will bite you, and you can call me Lyta, or Majara if you'd really prefer. We don't stand on ceremony much here. The fox-sized yearling smiled and waved her tail enthusiastically as she dipped her head respectfully to Lyta.
“I shall keep that in mind Majara.” Aura told her as her audits flicked forward again, You look around the size for a Cirrara-Scirion, we'll have to find you a mentor, of course. Aura smiled again as she watched the Majara head back to the middle of the clearing, Aura watched her a moment and felt her slight worry as it drifted off of the Majara. Tilting her head a little Aura tried to figure out whether to say anything or try to offer comfort but wasn’t sure how and so, she trotted back to Yssu’s side just as she sat beside the other wolf that Aura had seen and she sat just as she heard Yssu speak.
Hello, Narra, it's good to see you again. Aura had very little experience hunting, and has an interesting, rather handicapping condition. I'm going to try to teach her to hunt, and any help you'd like to give is welcome. Aura brightened a little as she looked at Yssu, the Heir was actually going to teach her how to hunt properly. Her tail waved eagerly as she settled in a little closer to Yssu and looked to the other wolf, now named as Narra. Yssu, Lyta and Narra, those were the names of her new family. Aura looked then to Narra as she spoke to Yssu.
Right. Well, I- Aura felt the way Narra felt at the moment and her ear tips drooped low, she didn’t know whether there was going to be much hunting help from Narra. Just as Narra’s eyes flew open Aura dropped to the ground, putting her paws over her muzzle, as her eyes turned to the dark, navy blue that showed her fear. Looking up she saw a flash of grey as Narra stood over her…protecting her. As she lifted her head a little she heard a new voice, a male one, Oops. Then Narra’s lyrics were back in the air as the speaker fluttered down from above, this caught Aura’s attention, he was a flyer! But it was Narra’s lyrics that caught most of Aura’s attention.
Oops? You nearly crushed her, with your hunk of rabbit. Aura saw light again as the grey she-wolf moved away from her again and Aura sat up, as her navy blue eyes shifted back to their normal pale silver-grey and traveled to the flyer. His lyrics then filled the air before all became silent once more, Erm... sorry. Sorry I'm late. I... brought a rabbit. As you can see. Sorry for that too. I...he was rather apologetic wasn’t he? Aura smiled toward him as she watched Narra pace back to the edge of the clearing where she had been previously. “Thank you Narra, thank you for protecting me.” Aura murmured and then turned back to the flyer.
The flyer was an interesting sight really and Aura got up and paced toward the grey and brown dappled dark green wolf. A few paces away she sat down before him and waved her tail a little. His wings and underbelly were very pretty too, light blue and white. Aura chuckled a little before the fox-sized yearling spoke to him. “Hello flyer. I’m Auralee, but most everyone just calls me Aura. What’s your name?” Her silver-grey pelt rippling and reflecting the moonlight as she watched the winged male, her black tipped tail waving a little as she lay down and crossed her red-fox red socked feet before her and kept her pale silver-grey gaze on the oddly but beautifully colored flyer before her.

OOC: Thankyou. I was shooting for cute C O R I N Corin squeaked and buried his nose in the grass, trying to hide under his paws. The Cercaethor was scary. His feathers sticking up at the tip of his wings were annoying and faintly painful; with a quick glance up to see if it was safe, he pulled his nose out of hiding, licked his wing feathers flat, and pushed his nose back under his paws. It looked like Narra was really angry at him, so Corin was sad. He just wanted people to like him. He was likeable, wasn't he? He tried so hard to be likeable. Even if sometimes he dropped rabbits on people... right? But he didn't think she was being totally fair. "It's not a hunk of rabbit, it's a whole rabbit," he protested faintly, his voice muffled by green-and-blue paw fur, then changed his mind about protesting and shut up. He waited until she was at a safe distance before hesitantly peeking out from under his paws. Was she angry at him? She didn't look angry at him, but then, Corin thought Narra never particularly looked cheerful either. Maybe she needed cheering up. He tried smiling at her brightly and then turned his attention to Aura, leaving the rabbit where it lay. Aura was somebody who looked around his size for once, which was nice, and she looked friendly, or at least more friendly than the Extremely Scary Higher Ranked People, but then that wasn't hard. He gave her his best Extremely Friendly Smile and introduced himself. "I'm Corin. I'm a Scirion, I bet you're a Scirion too, you look little. Are you new? We should be friends. I'm nine by the way," he babbled happily.

(By the way, y'all, KaiNaium mentioned to me, and I agree, that we should probably just ignore posting order in this thread still no double-posting, but just some of us are engaged more than others, like, I don't wanna post with Lyta again because Lyta has nothing to say til y'all finish chatting, but Aura and Yssu and Corin are all being adorable together so just... feel free to mess up the pack meeting posting order, I guess? )
