FIRENZE The blazing white sun beat down on the rocky hills of Firanze's home. She walked slowly over the hills, scanning the area for trespassers on her land. Not that she could do much about someone trespassing, unless they were smaller than her maybe. She wasn't much of a fighter, and was the only member of the pack so far. Renze was all alone in the cruel desert.
Grunting, she carried on her little trip to scout out the territory, secretly hoping she wouldn't meet anyone, and if she did that they would be tiny, or willing to join her pack. That was an idea. She had been leaving in the desert for a few weeks, and not one wolf had joined her. She had began to doubt the Solis Pack would grow past one member, but only time would tell. She would have to be patient. Unfortunately for her, patience wasn't one of her strong points, in fact, she was incredibly inpatient.
As she walked, her gait started to slow, and sweat poured of her body. It was noon, and the sun was at it's peak, definitely not a time you wanted to be out in the desert. Thankfully, she soon found herself by the stream that ran through the land. She waded into the middle, where the water just covered her ankles, laid down, and began to roll around in the crystal clear water.
It was the best thing she'd done all day, and soon Renze was nice and cool. Sighing happily, she splashed out of the creek and bent down to drink. She water was wonderful, washing away the dry sandy feeling she's had all day. Now all she needed was a nice plump hare to eat and her day would be perfect.

His ears flicked. He detected sound waves, not far off, reverberating through the sand. The sound depicted, as pictures in his mind, splashes of water, cheerfully frolicking in some pool somewhere. He lifted his head, glancing around at his mono-colored landscape and watching the heat waves hover over the sand's hot surface. He swiveled his ears and the sound repeated, and turned to look in the direction. The rest of the desert was silent, as usual. Nothing was unnerving, leading him to believe that the frolicking creature was of no threat. Or else, the creatures would have told him by now, whether they realized it or not.
He stood, loose sand matting his fur and insulating him. If one were to look, they could find sand from many moons ago deep within the recesses of his golden fur. He stretched, tensing the muscles on his haunches and front legs. He leisurely trotted over to the pool, which was not far off. The sun was warm and comforting on his back. His flicked aside his tussled wolf-mane that hung over his eyes in the open air. The flat stretch of earth left him with no cover, but he took no notice. He was armed for the terrain, as had been armed all of his ancestors before him. This was his turf; his home. Paw-prints could still be found of his old ancestors, shaping the sandy dunes. He was proud of his ancestry, and proud of his Desert.
And there; there stood a stranger to him. He smiled warmly, "Hey there."

FIRENZE Renze continued to lap up the cool, refreshing liquid. Each motion of her tongue removing more dryness from her mouth. It preoccupied her, and she was no longer focused on the task of protecting her pack's territory. The only thing on her mind was how wonderful the water felt to her.
As a result, she was taken by surprise when someone behind her spoke, saying. "Hey there." It was a simple greeting, with no trace of animosity, still, it scared her, and she found her self whirling around to face this new creature. It was a defensive action, and she was a bit hunched over, but she was taken by surprise. Seeing the sand covered wolf seemed to mean no harm, she loosened up a bit. Lifting her head high, Firenze spoke. "Hello fellow wolf. I'm Firenze, Mother of the Solis Pack. What brings you to my territory?" She spoke with a natural authority, that was at the same time welcoming. Her words were formal, simply because she was raised to be formal, conservative and reserved. She wasn't one to get all emotional, at least not in public. When she was alone however...
That wasn't important though, she had to focus on the task at hand, getting information from the trespasser. If you could call the wolf that, after all, not many wolves knew about Solis Pack, yet.

[bg=000000][atrb=border,0,table][atrb=width,399,table] He chuckled a bit at Firenze's greeting, at the phrase 'my territory.' He was aware that this female was challenging him with the coupling of those words, and that the conjuction of the phrase 'what brings you to' was added just before to make it sound more hospitable and open. But, hey, he didn't really need hospitality. After all, it was his home. All of a sudden, to this one wolf, all of it was her home.
And he just chuckled.
"Well, gee, I-- um... live here?" He chuckled again, sporting a toothy grin. "What is this 'Solis Pack?' I've not heard of it before."

FIRENZE The she wolf was filled with surprise by the wolf's statement about the land being his home. She hadn't ever seen him around, and she had been living there awhile, so she assumed no one called this their home, and that it was open for claiming. So, Renze wasn't going to let this wolf come waltzing in and say it was his home. Even if he had once called it home, it was her territory now, and he no longer had a right to it. Still, Renze was no idiot, she knew she wasn't all that powerful a fighter, and was fairly sure this wolf could beat her if any fighting broke out. She knew she had to tread carefully.
"Well, I was not aware anyone was living in this particular area, being as I've been living her a few weeks already, and haven't met anyone else, I assumed it was open for claiming. So, I claimed it as my own, and called it Solis." Her explanation hopefully answered both of his questions, she also hoped he had no desire to take back what he thought was his home. She did speak calmly though, and tried to keep any edge that betrayed her emotions out of her voice. She thought she did a pretty good job too. She may have been wrong of course.

[bg=000000][atrb=border,0,table][atrb=width,399,table] He nodded at her reply, gratefully accepting that there was no hostility in her voice. She seemed a well-enough wolf, and courageous for starting a pack all her own. But this 'pack' idea did not seem pleasing to him. He loved being alone. He was, above all else, a loner.
Suddenly, a thought crossed his mind. She looked the wolf up and down. "Interesting," he started. "You don't seem the type to live in this dunes. What has brought you here?" He was, in no way, flirting with her. He's never flirted with any female in his life. It's not that he was anti-social, for he loved speaking with others, but living in the desert brought a sort of desire to be alone with the sands with it. He had never fought the feeling. Females had passed through, asking for directions out of this 'forsaken place,' whatever that was supposed to mean. And he had always happily obliged. Now, that this female had no intention of leaving, he might as well find out about her.

FIRENZE Relief spread through as she realized this wolf didn't seem too interested in keeping the land for himself. She would still have her own pack, her own family where everyone worked together and got along, unlike in the pack she grew up in. The wolf's next question was easy enough to answer. "I grew up in the desert, a different desert, but still a desert. It just feels like home to me." She replied simply, Firenze wasn't one to give out lots of information about her personal life, so that was all the wolf was going to get about her home. Although 'home' didn't really have the greatest memories associated with it, the desert was what she was used to, and she didn't want to have to try and adapt to something different.
It was around this time that Firenze realized she didn't even know this wolf's name. Even if he didn't join her pack, if he lived in the area it might be handy to know who he was. "I don't think I caught your name?" She said in a friendly enough tone.
