Smaller IC World

Hello, everyone!

So, I've been thinking a lot about how the IC world is set up, and it seems to me that a whole continent might be too big for one site. It's a lot of empty space that no one seems interested in using, and some of the locations aren't that interesting. The bigness of it might also come off as intimidating to new members. That's what I tried to fix with the Kaleidoscope, adding a lot of diversity in a small area, but the whole continent still feels too big. I'm considering consolidating the world into the Kaleidoscope.

What would happen in this case is, I would rearrange the IC boards into "East", "West", "North", "South" and "Central" categories. The boards from the Kaleidoscope would go in these, along with some of the more interesting boards from the regular continent into whatever area I feel they should be in. The descriptions of these boards would be modified to reflect their new size (much smaller). The rest of the boards on the continent will be deleted.

Anyone who currently has a thread in a board I would delete would be able to PM me with a location change request. Basically you just tell me which board you want that thread moved to. It could be a similar IC location, or a completely different one.

Packs would no longer have their own category, but instead the alpha of each pack would be able to choose a category ("North", "South", etc.) as the new pack's location. Because of the already-present diversity of the valley's habitats, the packs' physical territories would not need to be changed. E.g., the Aurora Caeli Alliance territory could still be grassland and forest, while the Solis pack territory could still be desert. The territories would just be physically closer together.

To be honest I've pretty much made up my mind about this, but of course I want to take everyone's opinions into consideration. What do you members think about making Spectrum's IC world smaller? If you like the idea, what boards from the continent do you think should be kept?

Hey! I thought so long as I'm here, I thought I might add my input.

I know I'm the master of Microsoft Paint and all, but if we're going to have different districts like West and Central and etc., then maybe we can design a map of some sort? I'm a visual person, so that kind of idea appeals to me, but I realize it is also quite unnecessary. I'm not sure what kind of environments you mean to put in which area, but I would think that if we make a map we would include geographic elements like mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, fields, forests, etc. etc..

This has crossed my mind before and I definitely agree that we need a map. I thought about browsing popular maps on dA and asking around if someone would make us a simple one, but of course if anyone on Spectrum wants to have a stab at it, they would be more than welcome.

A smaller IC world might be nice, but with my charries they like lots of territory to wander. However, a smaller world might be interesting, giving Dybbuk a chance to wreak more havok or whatever. But we definately need to keep Aura and Yssu's thread. . So I'm good with smaller or not, and a map might be a rather good idea. .

I could do it, but I wouldn't be satisfied with it because it requires more drawing and less technology, which I'm largely incapable of. I would probably enlist a more seasoned artist for this job unless we have an artistic mastermind on the site, (mind you; there might be, the people on this site always surprise me) but otherwise I think a more professional sort of map would look better on Spectrum and would add major points to the site's look and functionality.

*shrugshrug* Kailolou made you that beautiful sig, she might be willing to make a map, I just don't know how active she is or if she has the time. dA, I think, would probably be a good backup.
