Grrrrrhhhhgggg. Oh shut up. The great white wolf was rather hungry, and the turf here was unfamiliar to him. He was used to miles and miles of snow, not grass and rock. True there were mice and other small creatures running around, but he would see them too late. It was starting to become irritating, and his frustration peaked when the ground seemed to start to shake. You’ve got to be— He was cut off short when he saw a herd of caribou. He perked his ears forward and sniffed the air as the herd stopped and eyed him. They were quite a ways off, but it wasn’t a distance he couldn’t run. The herd wasn’t large enough to make him believe they were part of the migration, but there was a fair amount. Oh, and this was his lucky day! Several calves were present in the herd. That sounded like a perfect meal. If he could catch it and not be trampled by its mother.
Ciel darted toward them suddenly, ears pressed to his head, tongue lolled out. The herd ran the second he moved, which was to be expected. The white wolf picked up speed, trailing behind the fleeing herd. His eyes were locked on a small runt looking calf that was slowly being left behind. This is just too perfect, he said mentally, feeling rather cocky. Heart racing, the wolf ate up the ground, getting closer and closer until—yes! The wolf tackled the calf, rolling once, twice, three times with it. Sheesh, how fast had he been running? Ah, who cared? Ciel panted heavily, looking around for intruders. The calf was squirming around with a broken leg, seeing that made Ciel feel ten times luckier. That could be him writhing in pain.
He touched his nose to the calf before biting down hard on its shoulder. He listened to it scream mentally and he shook his head, ripping skin and muscle from the creature. Humane kills were rare when it came to Ciel, but the high pitched noise was starting to irritate him. Even though a surge of protectiveness washed over him, the white wolf clamped his jaws down on the calf’s neck. In no time the calf went still, and Ciel collapsed onto his side. He panted, leaning back away from the kill. He needed to catch his breath before he ate or else he’d puke it back up.
The wolf looked around as he waited, sniffing the air for the scent of an intruder. No way was he going to let someone take his food. It had only taken a couple minutes before Ciel started to show down, occasionally looking up, wary for scavengers. Crows started to circle, and a coyote appeared in the distance. Ciel ate his fill before lying down and licking his paws. He’d stay around it and eat a little more later before letting the scavengers have at it. A sudden scent hit his muzzle. Another canine was here, besides the circling coyote. Ciel wasn’t concerned and he showed this by not getting up. However, he rolled his head back to look for whoever was approaching.

The white wolf was new to this land. It had seemed that she muttering something or another about "new land" every new moon. If she could remember correctly, she had just been wandering somewhere in some land of rabid halfbreeds and things of that nature. Unfortunately, a rather viscious wolf had scared off the young she-wolf, dubbing her a "mistake". I am not a mistake! I am just as normal as everyone else. The wolf thought to herself, tredding carefully around a particularly rocky path. The wolf's paws hurt, and she hadn't had a decent meal in ages. Her stomach rumbled, and she just didn't have the strength to chase after anything, let alone a caribou.
Alas, that was the scent that the wind carried that day, caribou. Rendezvous felt her stomach twist and turn in protest, yet she didn't even make an attempt to seek out the herd. I'll just rot and die, I really don't care anymore. She thought. The wolf usually had a rather bright look on life, but today she had fallen into a rather deep hole of depression. Perhaps that was what the lack of food did to a young wolf, she wasn't entirely sure. Twitching her nose, she padded on obviously deciding that the caribou herd had moved on, so there was no point in standing around feeling sorry for herself in the first place.
I didn't think I'd have to die so young, but I guess life is life. She thought to herself, as she observed her surroundings. She favored the feeling of the snow and cold, and this scenery wasn't exactly suiting her usual lifestyle. As she walked, she let her guard down and stopped paying attention to the living beasts around her. What is this place? The wolf thought, her white fur standing out like bull in a china shop. Twitching an ear, she caught the scent of a caribou again, this time something smelled like it had just been killed. Perhaps something left over from a passing wolf? The young wolf got her hopes up and forced her tired legs to carry her body forward, but as she progressed she realized that the fresh scent of freshkill mingled with the scent of wolf. One that was still lingering in the area.
The white she-wolf froze as she finally rested her gaze on a male wolf, and she automatically took a step back. Oh crud. She thought, already hating that she let her hunger get the best of her again. The underweight wolf gazed at the stranger, unsure of what his action would be if she attempted to take a step forward. "S-sorry." She stammered in a soft bark, her eyes full of worry and uncertainty.

Ciel’s eyes were glazed over as he fell into his own thoughts while he gnawed on a piece of bone. He thought back to his siblings, how he killed each of them. He smiled wickedly at the memory of drowning one of them. At first he didn’t think it would work, since he had never thought of how long wolves could hold their breath, but sure enough, after a few minutes of thrashing, his sibling stopped moving and then floated lifelessly downstream. He was brought back into focus when he suddenly realized there was that wolf he smelled standing before him. Almost immediately did he jump up, stand over his kill, and snarl fiercely. There was no way in hell he was giving it up. He was still hungry and not in the mood to share. Teeth bared, and face bloody, every hackle on Ciel’s body stood on end, along with his tail that was held high up in a dominant manner. He was quite the sight to behold, and his scars made him look all the more intimidating.
When the wolf apologized softly, he realized it was a female. A very gangly, skinny, vulnerable looking one at that. Where was her pack? He didn’t often come across lone females. They always traveled in pairs or small groups, searching for a strong male to protect them. The white wolf’s hackles went flat and his dropped his tail against his rump. While Ciel was the Alpha of his own pack, he wasn’t in a very welcoming mood, especially since she intruded upon his time alone. Caught up in his thoughts and his sudden anger, he opened his mouth to speak and instantly chastised himself. You can’t talk, stupid. He thought irritably, stepping over the dead caribou calf and marching straight up to her. Ciel’s body posture and the look in his eyes dared her to run or snap at him, but his intentions were not to harm. He leaned his head to her level and pressed his nose against hers, sparking a mental bond with her. It was the only way he could speak, after all, and he didn’t want to look like a creeper just staring at her. You should know better than to walk up on a stranger while he’s eating. He snapped at her mentally, huffing loudly and returning to his kill. Hopping over, he settled on the ground facing the stranger, his look not inviting or warm in the slightest. Especially if you plan to beg for scraps, thin one. His tone in her mind was teasing, almost cruel. He bit off a mouthful of the calf’s flank and savored it obviously in front of her. Was he trying to tease her? Yes. Was he trying to anger her? Maybe. The wolf swallowed the chunk of flesh in his mouth before beginning to work out knots in his fur, staining the white hairs red with blood from his feast. While he groomed, he spoke mentally to her. What are you called? If I plan on sharing, I’d like to know the name of the beggar. Why was he being a prick? Because it was funny to him, and he loved to watch the reactions of other’s at his cruel words.Despite his harsh words, he decided he could spare a few morsels to the female. She did look painfully thin after all, and the mental bond he created between the two compelled him to protect her, even if he was already treating her poorly.

Ren hadn't expected the stranger to be so hostile towards her presence. The white wolf stepped back as the male jumped to his feet, his lips pulled into a snarl. Ears twitched as she studied the wolf for a moment. Judging from his body riddled with scars, and the way he was acting now, he wasn't exactly friendly. The she-wolf twitched her tail, not liking her odds. Her belly was empty, her stomach was protesting with an occasional rumble. She was weak, and downright pathetic. Even if she was fully fed and healthy, she would never be able to stand up to brute like the one that stood before her now.
Blinking her eyes, she held her ground nevertheless. She was no coward. Ren didn't want to run away from this issue, she'd stand there and face death if she had to. I'm not afraid.. She thought, casting a brief glance towards the carcass near the stranger. Alas, the she-wolf relaxed a tad when she noticed the male's hackles lay flat on his shoulders. What's up now? She thought, raising her head. It was unusual for a she-wolf to wander on her on as such, but where else did she have to go? Most packs turned her away, the alphas being more hostile then necessary. No one wanted a friendly wolf like Ren, especially not a gant, poor one. The femme's mind snapped back into reality as she realized that the wolf was approaching. "Don't hurt me!" She whined, her head beginning to lower before she felt the brute's nose touch her own.
What is this?? She thought in confusion, her eyes wide as she heard a voice within her own mind. Judging from the male, it had to be his voice. As he retreated away from her, she shook her head as if bees were in her ears. W-what? She thought, still trying to get ahold of what she had just experienced. The male was a very strange beast indeed. A simple twitch of her nose was all she had in response to the words that invaded her mind the next second. As the male returned to the carcass, the she-wolf almost felt like salivating. Fortunately, she refrained from doing so, she didn't want to make herself appear any lower than she already did. "I'm not going to beg, it isn't exactly polite." She murmured softly, her voice similar to that of a creek bubbling melodiously around stones. "My name is Rendezvous, most call me Ren." Most call her Ren. The poor she-wolf didn't even know enough wolves to categorize them as a 'most'!
As she thought of the term 'beggar' the she-wolf winced slightly, causing a very faint flicker of light to dance onto a nearby pebble. Heck, the wolf was so tired that she couldn't even do anything with the elements, not even a little fire. Sighing, the she-wolf slowly sank onto her haunches, too tired to even complain. "If you would like to kill me, go ahead. I've got nothing to live for anyway." Ren murmured, forcing herself to tear her gaze away from the carcass and the sweet aroma that swam into her nostrils. No. I will not beg. I will not get on my belly and crawl, pleading for my life. I will do no such thing. The wolf thought, looking to the male.

Ciel’s ear swiveled at her voice. She wouldn’t beg? He’d make her. He’d hold her down, tear into her throat, and force her to beg him to spare her pathetic life. The thought actually gave Ciel pleasing chills that ran down from his ears to his rump. That would be fun, wouldn’t it? The white wolf snorted loudly at her response. Manners get you nowhere in this world, Fae. He growled mentally, pulling a warm piece of shoulder from the calf and swallowing it after a few chews. The food warmed his belly and gave him a sense of satisfaction. He took down prey by himself, ate by himself, and now was in the perfect mood to pick on someone. Too bad the wolf, now known as Rendezvous, was the only one around. He glared at her with his piercing yellow eyes as she lowered her rump to the ground. Attention in him flared at her offer of killing her. He gave her an almost malicious sounding laugh, one that would haunt her dreams. Don’t dare give me that opportunity, darling, I most certainly will take it. He snarled, rolling his shoulders and licking at a revealed rib bone.
She looked away from him and he almost snapped at her to make eye contact. He very much hated it when someone didn’t look at him. It meant their attention was on something else and not him. Ciel was very much an attention whore. But her gaze shifted back and rested on him, causing Ciel to sooth his jealously. It would be less of a challenge, making it all the less fun, to kill you while you are so weak and fragile. He said, his voice changing from mentally cruel to an almost nice tone. Even though he was threatening to kill her. But hey, she offered. She even said she had nothing to live for, which meant there would be no one to care if she were to randomly vanish. That made the perfect target. The white wolf nibbled on some meat that clung to the ribs of the calf while he thought about ways to hurt her. He could tear off her ears. That would be fun, but her screaming would get irritating fast. What if he just broke her neck? Or suffocated her? That would be nice too. The sudden realization that Ren was a lonely female brought overwhelmingly disgusting thoughts to his mind and he thought of all the sexual things he could do to her all while killing her slowly. He was filthy, and he loved it. Though he was still hesitant about sharing, he rolled his legs underneath him to a more relaxed position. It let Ren know that he wasn’t going to harm her, and if he was, she’d be able to see it coming. Come. Eat your fill, wolf. Ciel said, licking at his messy chest.
Ciel thought back to his pack, his territory. It was very small, with only a few wolves, but it was a pack nonetheless. And he was the defender, the protector, they looked to him to keep them safe and lead them. Maybe it would help if he wasn’t so evil to random wolves. Perhaps this Fae was looking for company? HAH! Why the hell would she join him? He threatened to take up the offer of killing her, and was acting like a complete ass. There’d be no way she’d join his pack. So, Ciel let the thought die and he watched the she-wolf carefully as he licked his chest. It was soothing, he was warm despite the chilling temperatures. It almost reminded him of the good old days when his mother would groom him after he stuffed his face with food. Lick…lick…lick…His eyelids drooped pleasantly, but he had to stop himself before he got too tired. Where is your pack? He asked, pawing at a fly that rested on the calf’s hoof.

The wolf snorted softly in response to the male's words. "It pays to be mannerable at times, you know." The only way that having manners wouldn't work is if you happened to run into a hostile brute like the one who stood in front of her. It wasn't in her nature to be overly agressive, and even if she was aggressive, she wouldn't be able to lift a claw towards her offender. So, why worry about it when there was nothing could be done either way? The she-wolf was tempted to pull her lips into a snarl at his next statement, but she refrained from doing so. "Be my guess. At least someone would be happy in this pitiful world." The ivory canine lifted up her head, revealing the soft throat fur underneath. Waiting a few moments, she climbed back to her paws, eyes trained on the larger beast.
He continued to take portions from the carcass, did he really want to make the she-wolf suffer? So be it. I've suffered enough, so I could care less if he were to add to my daily dose of suffering. Shaking her head, the wolf stepped forward. "Less of a challenge? I didn't think killing another really mattered. Death is just death." Sighing deeply the white wolf dived into her thoughts. It seemed pretty pathetic to know that a usual pack animal had been living most of its life on its own. With her parents dead, taken away from her at a early age, she didn't really have much of a choice in life. Along her travels, countless males tried to take advantage of her, and she always narrowily escaped their sexual desires. Huffing, Ren tossed the memory out of her head. Life was horrible. If the brute before her wanted to kill her, mate with her, what have you, she just didn't care anymore.
She was too tired to care.
When the male announced that she could eat her fill, Ren tilted her head slightly. "What?" She eyed his position, noting that he seemed to be relaxed. Her eyes of sapphire watched the male for a few more moments, before approaching warily. She eased forward until she was a length or so away from the carcass, her eyes looking at it longingly. "W-what is your name?" She stammered, lowering her nose to take a whiff of the carcass as she stepped closer again. After a few more moments of trying to convince herself, the she-wolf finally managed to take a bite from the flesh of the carcass. The wolf chewed hungrily on the meal, the warmth of the downed beast warming her empty belly. Food....[/] She thought hungrily as she continued to gnaw and chew at the muscle of the carcass. Swallowing, she sat up, her once perfectly white muzzle, now stained with small specs of blood. "Pack? I have no pack." The she-wolf murmured simply, obviously not wanting to elaborate on her answer. Flicking an ear, she spoke again "Thank you for sharing your catch with me. It is..very much appreciated." She murmured softly, reaching down to lick at an old, battered wound on her foreleg.

Ciel’s ear’s leaned back when she seemed stunned at his willingness to share. It almost annoyed him. Was she deaf? He bit back the response he wanted to spit at her, but held the retorts at bay when she inched forward. She stared at it and Ciel snorted loudly, looking off at the caribou herd in the distance. I’m not going to hurt you. He growled, rolling back to nibble an itch on his tail. If I was, I’d have done it already. That was undeniably true. Just a few moments ago she revealed her soft throat, almost tempting him to sink his fangs into it. But, he was no longer in a fighting mood. His belly was full and his mind was sleepy, he was in no position to start up a fight. The white fae questioned his name and he ground his teeth together. What did it matter? Ciel. He said, raising his head a bit as he introduced himself. His name was rather odd in his own opinion, and he had wished his mother named him something else. Of course he knew he could go on telling others a false name, but then they’d be calling the alias and he’d forget.
The white wolf watched her eat, irritated at her skittishness. Had he not proven he wasn’t going to harm her? He himself was showing his belly after all, it’s not like he was in the best position to lunge at her. Raising his paw to chew on a piece of meat that stuck to his toe, he watched her sit up and listened to her speak. No pack? Interesting. Ciel licked his paw once before setting it down and dragging himself forward to chew on some more muscle. I’m sure it is. He snorted, pausing to chew on some fatty pieces. You shouldn’t be this thin. Have you never learned to hunt or is it laziness that causes you to suffer? He asked in almost a mocking tone. Ciel had established himself a worthy hunter. His proof? The calf they were chowing down on. What did she have to demonstrate her worth? Nothing, she was practically a bag of bones. The inner bond he had with her pressed against his will power. Yes he wanted to take her in under his wing and nurse he back to health to look like a proper wolf, but he was too stubborn to do that. After working his teeth on the shoulder of his meal, he managed to pull it off and into his lap where he began to gnaw on the hooves. If you do know how to hunt, you should learn to take down prey larger than a mouse. He teased, his golden eyes flickering up to meet hers.

Ciel. That was the title that had been given to the unruly male. It was a unusual name, but Ren's full name wasn't exactly common either. The young wolf had no idea why her mother had decided name her such a long name. According to to her, it was something of French origin, meaning 'get together'. Well, there hadn't been much celebrating when Ren had been born, so what gave her mother the idea in the first place? Twitching her nose, she licked her muzzle, delighted that she had finally got a full belly. The feeling was strange, especially after it had been empty for so long. At least the meal would keep her satisfied for a few days, maybe give her enough strength to move somewhere else.
At Ciel's comment, the she-wolf couldn't help but pull her lips over her teeth, revealing a snarl. It was a suprising gesture coming from the once friendly she-wof. "I am not lazy! I am a very suitable hunter, indeed. I just happen to be very unlucky. Every land that I traveled through was practically bare with prey, with only the occasional mouse or rabbit. And even those animals were in poor shape, so on most days I stuck to eating berries." Berries. They barely even gave her stomatch something to think about when the day was over. Alas, Ren had always been grateful for whatever food she could get her paws on in those days, so she wasn't going to complain.
Glancing at Ciel, she guessed it was safe before she settled onto her belly, resting her tired, scratched paws. "I've never hunted large prey, to tell you the truth." The wolf's parents had died when she was young, which prevented her from ever going on one of the wonderous hunts that packs often shared. The caribou hunt. She had never tracked a caribou nor a deer, and she never bothered with them either. By the time she had gotten out of her old lands, she was too weak to chase after a calf, let alone a bull or a cow. Resting her head on her paws, she dived into her thoughts again, blinking occasionally. "I'd very much like to just..give up on life. There really isn't a point in living, especially if you've no home to go to. This is why I said to simply take my life, it doesn't really bring value to me anymore." Ren sighed, her sapphire eyes looking at the carcass, but not really looking for she was deep in thought.

Ciel was startled by Ren’s sudden aggression. While it pleased him to see her show some kind of emotion, he did not like to be tested. He slammed his paw down and snarled right back at her, tensing his muscles and raising his hackles. Do NOT snap at me, runt! Know your place. He snarled, running over her first few words. The wolf’s anger was quickly replaced with a strange sense of pity. Berries? Wolves don’t eat berries! What wolves eat, eats berries. She was crazy. Stupid. Pretty. But mostly stupid and dumb. Ciel wrinkled his nose and forced the hair on his back to lay flat when she rolled onto her stomach. If she would get over his snappy behavior, he could forget hers. For the time being. That’s quite obvious. He said, not showing the real surprise he felt. She had never taken down something larger than a rabbit? How the hell was she going to survive out here? Let alone all by herself? That nagging feeling probed at his mind, edging him closer to wanting to help her. But he refused to cave in.
Ren laid her head on her paws and Ciel relaxed some more, leaning onto his shoulder as he continued to nibble on the calf’s feet. He snorted at her complaining and rolled his eyes. I lived alone for some time, and I’ve met other wolves that have been alone for far longer than you have. Stop your complaining and team up with someone already. He groaned, moving to chew on the hoof with his molars. I’m not going to coddle you and tell you your life means anything to me, but you should take pride in your life. Don’t throw it away so easily. Fight for something. He almost called her pathetic, but he fought the urge. Ciel wanted to put her down, rub it in her face that she was a poor excuse for a wolf, but something told him not to. Maybe he shouldn’t tease her about things she never had experienced. Maybe he could help her get on her feet? …Eh. Ciel spit out a large chunk of the calf’s hoof and nudged the leg away. You need to try harder. Give up less. Learn how to hunt properly. You won’t survive if you don’t. He said, looking her straight in the eyes. He held her gaze for a few moments before adding, you should think about joining a pack. You won’t have to watch your back as often. And you won’t be alone.

Ren narrowed her eyes at the male, considering her next words carefully. "I am not a runt and I am very aware of my place! I am not a lowly omega, so don't treat me like one!" The wolf barked, before quieting down not wanting to sap her strength over some petty arguement. She still didn't feel like jumping into a fight with anyone, especially not the babarian that stood before her now, huffing and puffing. The she-wolf was not ashamed to admit that she had only eaten smaller prey, it gave her stomach something to think about in those days. Twitching her nose, she gnawed on a bone she had only recently just cleaned from the calf carcass.
She didn't quite know what to say to those wolf's words. Truth was, she didn't want to be in a pack. She was weak, and she had long since forgotten what it felt like to live in a pack. "I'd rather not. I don't believe I was meant to belong in packs, or to share the company of others." If she were meant to be social, her parents wouldn't have died. As Ciel met her gaze, the she-wolf almost flinched. She had never favored looking into the eyes of a fellow canine, it was strange. "I'll try to hunt properly as you say, I suppose. I'll actually really try" The wolf snapped the bone in two, her mind starting to wander. That was when she felt a biting chill. Despite being an artic wolf, she could indeed feel the freeze that was approaching.
Ren scrambled to her paws, her sapphire orbs gazing around uneasily. "I think I better get moving. I appreciate you offering your catch." She dipped her head in respect, before shifting her gaze around the surrounding area.

Ciel’s lip curled in disgust when Ren claimed she wasn’t meant to be in a pack. You’re pathetic, he longed to say, but he held it back. He was sickened by the way she treated herself. It was like she wasn’t even trying, something the white male couldn’t stand. You can’t say no one will have you if you don’t knock on the door. His ears shifted when she said she would try to hunt better. He snorted and wrinkled his lip, a clear sign that he didn’t believe her. You’re going to need more determination to catch something big. Ciel said, leaning forward to lick the ribs of his kill, further proving he was a better hunter. He glanced at her when he heard the bone snap and shrugged it off. Scraping his tongue against his teeth, he lifted his head and noticed the change in the atmosphere. A cold breeze chilled his wet nose and he buried it into the warm fur on his belly for a moment. Ren stood and bid her goodbye. Well, at least she could tell when the weather was going to get bad. Perhaps she’d weather the storm with a full belly. If she knew where to go that is.
The male knew he had to get a move on as well and he stood quickly, glancing down at the mangled carcass. The rest could be left to freeze overnight, and he may return tomorrow and gnaw on some cold bones. Yummy. It’s nothing. Ciel growled, raising to his feet and stretching his limbs. His ear flickered and he raised his head, watching snow start to fall. There’s a storm brewing. Find somewhere warm if you want to survive. On that note, he turned and moved at a swift trot, head hanging, tail flat against his rump. He was steering himself to a large set of boulders far in the distance. He could find a clustered spot of rocks and crawl in between them. He may get a little wet, but it should take the brunt of the snow.
Ciel wondered where Ren would end up going. Did she have a den nearby that she had been staying, or was she going to improvise like him? He could care less, but he would feel rather sad if he stumbled upon her frozen body after the storm passed. He would only feel this way because he was linked mentally to her, creating a bond that only he could feel. And it made him want to call out to the fae, show her how to hunt, shelter and protect her, give her affection. But she was sooo pitiful! She didn’t act like a wolf, so why should he treat her like one? Ciel quickly tossed the thought aside as he jumped atop a small boulder, reaching the small area of rocks. He looked back to where the she-wolf had been. The male wrinkled his nose before saying, Good luck. Distance had no effect on him, he could talk telepathically to her even if they were on the other side of the world. Once he was bonded with someone, there was no getting away from it. The wolf hopped from the boulder and went around to search for a shelter. What he found wasn’t appealing, but it would work for tonight. Ciel crawled through the small opening and found a small cramped area that would fit a few wolves. Thankfully he was alone. Stretching out, he laid against a large mossy boulder and watched the snow fall from the entrance. It was mesmerizing, and he started to drift off. In a few hours, he’d wake to a winter wonderland.

Rendezvous muttered a farewell to the male wolf before going her own seperate ways. It seemed as though as soon as the she-wolf wandered off, mother nature finally unleashed her fury. The snow began to pelt down, and she could feel bits of hail clash against her skinny frame. "Ugh." She growled into the wind as she increased her pace into a run. Usually the she-wolf loved the frosty bitterness of the snow, but during a blizzard, she disagreed.
Her paws sunk into the slowly growing blanket of frozen water, and she had to squint her eyes in order to see through the storm. In the midst of the rage, she spotted a collection of boulders and stones, and even an opening big enough for a wolf to slip through. Oh please let that be shelter. She thought, running towards the potential safe haven. Upon reaching the 'shelter', she caught a whiff of a familar canine. Ciel! She barked, surprised that she had come across the wolf again. The snow had covered any remaining tracks, and had masked the wolf's scent from afar. Darnit. So much for shelter. Sorry. I'll leave, I didn't know you were in here. She murmured softly, her frame shaking from the cold outside.

Ciel wasn’t fully asleep. He was drifting in and out, small sounds bringing him back to consciousness. His eyes rolled open to watch a mouse bound toward him from the snow, grooming it’s body quickly from the wet water. It hadn’t noticed him for a few minutes, and it seemed to put Ciel at peace watching the fuzzy little critter. Of course, when it turned and accidently bumped his foot, it darted back into the chilling cold, finding its chances better out there then in here with a wolf. Bored and alone, the wolf settled and started to groom himself to help lull himself to sleep. His warm tongue pressing against his chilled paw pads was a pleasing feeling. He cleaned away blood and water before tucking his feet under his belly to keep them from getting cold. He went to work on his shoulder, eyes closed, belly warm with comfort. Ciel hadn’t noticed he had fallen asleep until a loud sound brought him to realize there was another wolf around. Pulling his numb tongue back into his mouth, he straightened his neck and watched the blurred figure approach his den. Hackles raised, he began to let out a growl until the white wolf cried out his name in surprise.
Rendezvous? He questioned quickly, perking his ears and calming the fur on his neck. Did she follow him? It wasn’t the worst thing she could have done after all. She could have tried to crawl under a bush to wait out the storm, which would have killed her most likely. Licking his cold nose, he squinted an eye at her and gave her a doubtful look. And where do you think you’ll go? He asked, his voice far less harsh than it had been earlier. Ciel gave her a one over, noting how her frail body was shaking, the weather taking a hard toll on her. He knew if she stayed out she would die, even with the meal he’d given her. You might as well stay. Ciel scoffed, stretching out and taking as much room as he could. There’s no other good shelter around here. This is your best bet. He opened an eye and glanced at her with a somewhat amused look. With me. On that note, he rolled onto his back and to the other side, facing the moss covered boulder he had been leaning against. He licked at the wet foliage, swallowing the moisture before nuzzling his nose against his legs and covering his face with his tail. If you kick me in your sleep, I swear I’ll leave you out to freeze. His tone was not threatening, nor warming, but dull and emotionless. He was being honest; he didn’t want to be woken. All Ciel wanted was a nice long nap.

Even with the thick pelt of white and black fur that covered the wolf’s body, he still detested the cold. Terrible gust of wind blew into his face and froze the mucus on his nose. Flicking his warm tongue across the soft dark skin of his nose only brought mild relief. A few times the snow would build heavily atop his pelt and he would stop to vigorously shake the precipitation off. There was nothing to gain from living in a such a place as this. He questioned how wolfs could not only survive, but thrive in such conditions. He mused those that did were either missing part of the brain or magically enhanced in some form or other. With his eyes nearly shut tight against the blizzard conditions he almost missed the collection of stones off in the distance. His keen eyes rarely missed anything and as he focused his gaze on them he could see the shapes of one or possibly two mammals inside the cave. This did not phase the Mountain wolf in the slightest as he changed his path for the natural shelter. There was a slight incline he had to work his way up before finally breaking onto the the path the led between the sheer walls of rock to the entrance of the cave.
Staying light on his feet he placed each paw carefully but with a confident air as he strode inside the opening. His eyes barely shifted toward the other two wolves as he moved past them toward the farthest corner. The snow was already melting and dripping off him onto the rock floor. Lowering his onto his haunches with his back turned to them he lifted a paw and begin to lick away the frost. Trying to appear completely relaxed in the situation he closed his eyes and let out a content hum. It was a dangerous move and despite his actions he was still very alert listening to the other two wolves every move. Once he finished with tending to his unfortunate paws he turned slowly in several circles before laying down. His elbows were tucked up against his chest and he stretched out on his stomach positioned where he could easily see the other canines. Opening his eyes the bright blue irises locked on the larger wolf who had been curled up to sleep and then shifted to the smaller one, his lips pulling back in a smirk which revealed his dangerously sharp teeth. He said nothing, only his eyes dared them to challenge him to leave the shelter.
