Ivory flakes drifted down ever so gently as the almost nonexistent breeze caressed the snowflakes and set them on their journey towards the ground. It was a barren wasteland of ice and snow. A beautiful winter sahara, where the soft dirt once met with waves of azure and teal. However, now it was reduced to a cold block resembling translucent stone. Ice. A material Frost was all to acquainted with. The soft dirt was hidden under tendrils of snow here and there, but the current snowfall would surely cover the open spots, the white wolf did not fret over this fact. In a sense, he welcomed the snow, no, not because he enjoyed it, but because he has never known anything else. Living in, or should he say being a barren wasteland like this was second nature to him, and anything found in these climates came to no surprise to him.
Fuchsia pads stepped onto the ice without hesitation. He had nothing to fear, the ice would not break, he would not allow it to. His feet almost seemed to have a mind of their own as he kept walking along the ice ridden shoreline. Most wolves would cringe at the icey temperature and give in to the pain and lick their burned pads, but the white wolf was been walking these lands for more than he can remember, his body solely adapting to this climate and nothing more.
Gradually the terrain began to change and several large bumps of rock began to appear, signaling he was reaching the mountain area, there were quite a few caves nestled in there that would make a good shelter in case the light snowfall would turn deadly. It was a quite day, the only noise was the soft pitter patter of ice particles falling to the ground as his breath escaped him and quickly became ice. However he had grown accustomed to this sound over time and grew to ignore it. As he walked, the area was becoming almost peaceful in a way. almost
A fluttering of wings was heard overhead, and ebony feathers floated down like black waterfalls ready to drown whomever dared to cross its path. Caw's quickly broke the silence until they were so jumbled together that it sounded like maniacal laughter.
Oh, how Frost hated this bird.
The crow in question flew down to ground level, ruby eyes peering into the white wolf. “Now where do you think you're going frosty? There's nothing here!” The crow erupted into another fit of laughter, its voice was strangled and rough, words coming out with mixes of chirps and whistles, making it hard to understand it.
“My actions are none of your concern oculis rubet.” Frost spoke, latin slipping in on its own accord. The bird, no, daemon was completely mad, and has been a thorn in the wolfs side far too long. The once gentle snowfall had began to pick up slightly, warning Frost that his instinct to head for the caves was right.

A black wolf, who stood out in all of the snow, stayed in caves for she did not want to be noticed. She was used to being alone and come to, in a way, enjoy it. Shadow steped a paw onto the snow that had already fallen, and stood there for a moment. Her stomach growled and she wish she had gone hunting earlier.

Blue eyes focused themselves on the rocky peaks, almost completely covered in snow. He left the ice covered ground and stepped on the rough ground, moving his way through the rough terrain. A blizzard was quickly forming, and although Frost could easily survive through one, he was tired and slightly hungry, so he could fit in a nap before he set out once more. The wolf hadn't noticed as the Crow shook its ebony wings giving a powerful leap off the ground before flying off, the slight fog and snowfall obscuring Frosts' view. The wolf was glad for his moment of peace, and continued in his direction.
After a few more pawsteps he came to what looked like an entrance of a cave, the front was caved in however, thick rocks covering the front, but after further inspection Frost noticed an open space to the side, hidden behind another large rock but the wolf could still easily slip in through there. Slightly happy from his luck, the white wolf weaseled his way through, and noted the cave was quite large on the inside. It was pitch black other than the few strands of dim light that made it through the cracks of the rocks.
His white coat had frost scattered all over it, little pieces of it falling off every now and then. Halfway in the cave was when he heard it. It sounded like, well, a growl. Except not really. It was a guttural noise, very faint but not to the point you think you imagined it. Frost instantly perked up, suddenly aware of everything as he searched the cave blindly, was there something or someone else in the cave as well?

She began to walk to see if she could find a warm space to lay down. As she was settling down she heard feint pawsteps. She quickly looked for a dark shadow that would hide her from the intruder. When she saw a dark enough shadow, she hid in it to wait. As she waited her stomach growled a little louder and she hoped the other had not heard.

Frost narrowed his eyes but still couldn't make out any strange figures, in the dark. Maybe he had imagined the noise, being with the crow did this to him, made him slowly lose his sanity. Shaking his head, Frost was not fully convinced and stepped out of the cave into the snowy blanket on the ground called snow. Perking up his ears the noise returned, this time sounding louder than before. Blue eyes widening Frost was now positive something was in the cave. Stepping back a few more steps from the entrance the white wolf felt the strong wind whip at his coat. Now was a terrible time to have an encounter of this nature, but it seemed fate was against the wolf.
"Show yourself!" His voice was steady, and loud enough to break through the noisy wind. Frost heard his voice come back at him, meaning it had echoed through the cave. As self defense, ice began to build up at his feet, some pieces floating a little bit above the ground in case he needed to attack. Although Frost was a fighter by no means, he still didn't know what lurked beyond those caves, and survival was a must.

The wolf, startled by the sudden echo trough the cave, began to slowly approach the entrance, for she was in no state to fight. She steped a paw onto the snow covered ground and flinched. Her thick, black fur getting covered in snowflakes and golden eyes fixed on the strange wolf in front of her. She wimpered.

I’m told that fate makes fun of us, That it gives us nothing and promises everything, The black figure was painfully obvious against the snow. White flakes were dappled on her coat from the oncoming blizzard. Idly Frost wondered what a creature like her was doing here in the Tundra, catching meals would be insanely difficult if you don't have the element of surprise. Unless...maybe this wolf had more that what Frost was seeing. Something akin to curiosity burned in his chest as he wished to know more, but the white wolf was cautious, this stranger could be a threat.
Blue and golden eyes were locked as an audible whimper passed through Frost's ears. His ears lowered and the ice particles melted back into the ground. Was this stranger injured? Or was she just, frightened by him. This somehow disturbed Frost, he was not a violent creature by nature, in fact, he liked to think he was on the side of peace. However this wolf didn't not seem him as such.
With a frown forming on the white wolf's muzzle he spoke softly, trying not to intimidate her. "Apologies stranger, i did not wish to startle you. As you can see i merely wished for shelter from this snowfall." He paused and recollected back to her earlier whimper. "Tell me tenebris unum are you hurt?"

As she pondered on what to say she took a step back into the cave to get off the snow covered ground. Her eyes still visible, she said in a low voice " I'm f-fine." Her eyes disappeared for a brief second as she bent down to lick her stinging paws. As she did she picked up a very feint sent of blood.

I’m told that fate makes fun of us, That it gives us nothing and promises everything, Frost looked at the wolf in front of him, not knowing what to say. There was no threat in her tone or actions, making him believe he was indeed safe with this wolf. She seemed to be retreating back into the cave, which was wise as the snowfall was increasing rapidly. A blizzard would form soon, and although Frost could survive one, it would leave him quite depleted. Maintaining eye contact he inched toward her, watching idly as she licked her paws. He felt a ting of pity, seeing as the ice didn't have the same effect on him. "I fear there will be a blizzard soon, and i do not have the time to search for another shelter. May i share this cave with you? I mean you no harm, i swear to you." She licked her paw once more. "Hm... there is enough space and as long as you mean no harm I don't mind" she steped to the side to let him pass. She layed down and watched as the snow got more fierce. She layed her head down and began to doze off.

Frost nodded and entered the cave, the darkness nearly enveloped him but after a few moments his eyes adjusted and he was able to make out most of the shapes. It was a medium sized cave, possibly fitting up to five wolves comfortably. The walls were rocky and jutted out in certain areas, the white wolf made a mental note to not get near those sections. Picking a flat spot near the entrance Frost followed the other wolfs example and laid down. The heavy snow and wind were slightly blocked out by the cave, meaning they could talk at normal tones rather than shouting over the wind. Just as the white wolf looked to ask the strangers name she seemed to begin to doze off. She must be tired the wolf mused and closed his eyes. Soon the chaotic sounds from outside began to make almost a rhythmic noise, lulling him. He didn't even notice he was slipping into slumber until it was too late.

After a short while Shadow was woken by a low grumbling noise from her stomach. She stood up and glared at the white wolf for a few seconds, and then she walked to the opening to the cave and stared out onto the white watseland to see if she could see any movement amongst the snow.

I’m told that fate makes fun of us, That it gives us nothing and promises everything, Blue eyes blinked a few times, a void of blackness slowly disappearing into shades and shadows before his very eyes. With a foggy memory Frost lifted his head slightly, struggling to recollect his memory's. The rocky ground of the cave pressed against his fur, and the wind from outside created a constant whistling noise. Which had long ago become background sound. With shaky legs Frost lifted himself off the floor, stretching out his limbs one by one. The minute he spotted the black wolf by the entrance everything came back to him. Gently he walked towards her peeking outside as well, happily he noted that the blizzard had died down, and it was nothing but light wind and snowfall outside. They were finally able to leave the cave. Glancing towards the black she wolf Frost was hit whit an odd sense of guilt, he was a lone creature by nature but this wolf shared her shelter with him and she was obviously hungry. Frost was well acquainted with the land, and knew were the best hunting spots were. The least he could do to repay her before going on his way was helping her get a meal. Other wise, Frost thought she might not even survive. "Mother Earth has stopped her fury i see. Come, you could use a meal and i know of such places where it could be found." Without looking to see if she was even following him, Frost stepped out of the cave and began to walk.

She slowly stepped onto the frozen wasteland, and hurried to follow the white wolf making sure not to leave a paw on the ground for to long. She began to open her mouth to say something, but decided not to question him.

I’m told that fate makes fun of us, That it gives us nothing and promises everything, The cold snow froze in between his paws with every step he took, the white wolf glided smoothly across the terrain his steps were graceful and sharp at the same time. He glanced back from the corner of his eye curiously, wondering if he was acting strange to the female. Frost was not well acquainted with many wolves, and often wondered if his ways were not accepted among others. Shaking the thought from his head, the white wolf sped his pace and narrowed his eyes at his surroundings. After the snowstorm the skies were left clear and open, a drastic change from what it once was. The sun claimed its rightful position high in the sky and loomed over the two wolves, casting shadows behind them.
Suddenly Frost came to a halt, in front of him were dying footprints of clearly recognizable hoofs leading in the direction they were going. With a nod, Frost turned towards the stranger, and pointed with his tail at the hoof prints. "Those are fresh, if you continue this path you will find a heard of elk." He stopped to take in her reaction, but disguised it by giving a lick to his paws, the ice on them melting slightly and leaving dew on his tongue. "I trust you can handle them on your own, or do you require further assistance stranger?" After the storm, there was bound to be plenty of tired and injured elk, good hunting targets. Frost hoped this would suffice as thanks for the strangers kindness in sharing the cave.

She slowly began to walk forward then turned towards the white wolf. "Assistance is welcomed but not required," she said with a kind smile. She turned to the hoofprints and started to follow the trail, quickening her pace as she went.

I’m told that fate makes fun of us, That it gives us nothing and promises everything, "Ahh, then if that is the case i shall take my leave." The white wolf stared at the female for a moment, taking in her appearance one more time. A sting of wetness cooled his paws as he realized he had been standing in the same spot for too long and the snow had begun to turn to ice. He knew this female would be fine on her own, Frost had shown her a path and she was willing to take it. Feeling like his debt had been repaid Frost turned the opposite direction and began to walk, he stopped for a moment, as a stray thought hit him. They had never learned each others names. Frost bit back a laugh that seemed to spring out of no where, and spared a glance behind him. He watched her retreating from idly. With a content huff of breath, the wolf began his journey once again. Not bothering to fight back the feeling that maybe their paths would cross again one day, fate had a funny way of working like that after all.
