[smear:000000]Sine and Aarist[/smear:00FF00]
The ground was white with cool wet snow, among the white washed land lived a herd of moose. They stood close in a tight circle digging for food with their hooves, unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows of a nearby boulder. Sine and Aarist were laying very low waiting for the right moment; they had their eyes on the small, sickly baby on the edge of the circle. The baby was starting to move farther from the group, it probably wasn’t well cared for seeing that no one was paying attention to it.
Sine shifted his energy to his legs getting ready to race after the small creature, Aarist did the same. But suddenly Sine turned, something was wrong. “Aarist, do you smell that?” he whispered, relaxing his muscles. Aarist sniffed the air, “Blood and bear stench.” They looked at each other for a brief moment before they took off after the smell.
Sine, who was faster than Aarist got to the scene first. A grizzly stood before him, Sine snarled at it shadows rising up around him. It turned to look at him; it had a long wound leading from above its brow, over its right eye, and down its muzzle. Growling it turned away and rushed off, clearly it didn’t want to fight anymore. What else Sine saw he wouldn’t want to recall to anyone, 2 pups and its parents had left this world. He sighed sadly looking away, “Aarist don’t look…” he said to the wolf that had just showed up behind him.
“It’s horrible…” he looked at the tan wolf, “we got here too late.”
“…Sine, it’s not our fault.”
“I know that, but if we were here before we might have had a chance to save them.”
Aarist was about to say something but was cut off by a small sound from a nearby shrub. They cautiously made their way towards it. A white figure lay under it, its body was dirty and it seemed very sad all alone. “Uh…this must be one of the pups...” Aarist said sadly, prodding it lightly with his nose. A pulse, two, three…it was alive! A burst of hope spread through him. Looking at Sine he silently begged for Sine to let him take care of it. “I never said you couldn’t, besides, who else could take care of it…” Sine muttered.
Aarist picked up the small, fragile pup. It whimpered a little but was soon silent. With a small smile Aarist let himself float above the ground. “I’ll take her to the Hallow, you go and catch some rabbits for us, Kay?” Sine nodded, “Be safe.”
