I just looked this up on Wikipedia and it seems terrible! I really don't see a need for this act, because as long as someone is not claiming the art/video/etc as their own and give full credit to the owner/copyright holder, then there is really no point. I don't think there is too much to worry about though. There are a lot more cons than pros and it possibly interfers with our freedom of speech which woudn't let the bill pass. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Online_Piracy_Act

A direct quote from the Wikipedia page:
"A news analysis in the information technology magazine eWeek stated, "The language of SOPA is so broad, the rules so unconnected to the reality of Internet technology and the penalties so disconnected from the alleged crimes that this bill could effectively kill e-commerce or even normal Internet use. The bill also has grave implications for existing U.S., foreign and international laws and is sure to spend decades in court challenges."[43]
Art Bordsky of advocacy group Public Knowledge similarly stated that "The definitions written in the bill are so broad that any US consumer who uses a website overseas immediately gives the US jurisdiction the power to potentially take action against it."[44]"
^This would mean the US would be able to sue (Or other legal action) against people in other countries. Many US websites would be closed down as well. So other countries are affected too.

Here is a thought experiment. Consider a device, which when attached to a printing press can read all its content. When it comes across words that the government finds disagreeable, it activates a flame thrower and burns up the whole building that the printer was in.
Consider if the U.S. government makes it mandatory that all printing presses, copiers and printers be equipped with these devices. Consider that the device has been miniaturized and put in every pen and pencil ever made.
That is what SOPA is.
This may all be hype. I don't know yet. Keep calm and CARRY ON.

Everybody, I know this is really awful because it really is, but let's don't talk like "IT'S GONNA HAPPEN! OMG NO!"
That's not the way. I did freak out too, because if all those sites would be shutted down, I won't be able to speak with my best friend ever! I wouldn't have fun and spend many happy times as I discovered things what changed my life. (I know this sounds weird, but carry on reading.)
So, yeah, it will be terrible if that happens. But there's one thing I know and according to that, it will NOT shut the internet down.
The day, which was a month ago, changed my entire life because of one book. It's called "The Secret". It's a very nice and positive book. Read it. Ever heard of that?
If not, let me explain. In this book YOU are the creator of your life, YOUR thinking and emotions are important if you want to be happy in your life. And there's a part where it says about your thinking of the whole world. If you think like the example above, like the whole world, it might happen. Stop that bad thinking and start thinking good.
You've gotta think positive. You hear that all the time and you think it's not true, but I've experienced it. It IS true and that's the thing that amazed me. Everything that was in that book was real. All those wise people wouldn't lie to the whole world.
So, the point is: Just think positive. Think like this: "Naaah, it'll be alright. SOPA will shut down, that would ruin the whole world." As soon as people start thinking it will shut down, that positive will stay.
(If you think I'm talking random stupid stuff and if you think I'm crazy, please don't, I'm trying to help and this IS true! It really is, and I'm just trying to help. I'm totally sure SOPA will shut down. Don't hate me, just go to the page of The Secret.)
Nothing will happen to the internet, don't worry. We have the hope, love and believe. I just have the feeling. It'll be alright.
Hope you consider my answer to SOPA thingy.

I can't even believe it will happen. There are too many people who don't like SOPA. Whole world, let's say. Thay can't do it, it's gonna be a complete chaos.
Also, if you start visualising and thinking and acting like SOPA's gone, it helps too. ^^ (That's part of The Secret.)
INSERT "HUMOR" HERE: We're gonna wear black shirts with white text: "SOPA'S GONE!" xD
SOPA in Greek is 'Shut up'. They should really take in the hints.
